It's pretty hard to justify the statement that "underperforming employees" = the blacks.

The comment about Carson is unnecessary. If you can't explain why you think he's a credible candidate and what specific ideas he has that you agree with, then it may not be Marvin who sees him as 'token'

Remember when people who criticised Condi Rice were racist?

Obviously it was because of her gender and skin colour and not because she was one of the principal architects of the Iraq war.

It's very easy to criticize a person without addressing their race or gender, etc. But folks who lack discipline or the restraint to do so tend to go for the low hanging fruit.
