Why is there a such a discrepancy on waiting times?

I filed for my husband (CR1) in mid September, 2014. His case was closed on June 17, 2015 at NVC. We still have not heard anything about an interview date. When I look at other applicants for Ghana, some have gone through completely, and they filed after me in January 2015, and now the visa has already been issued.

What does this mean? Why do some take longer and some pushed through under a year?

If anyone can shed light on this for me, I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

*** Thread moved from CR-1 Process forum to the USCIS Service Centers forum -- topic involves times of processing. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Expedite, organisation, pure luck..... Who knows?! I feel just as frustrated as you, seeing all these people filling after us sailing through while we're still stuck at NVC, getting nowhere. But don't try and make sense of or find logic to the US visa process because there is none and it'll drive you crazy. Try focusing on the goal ahead, reuniting with your loved one. It's not that far off for you now, just the interview left and then it should be over. :)

VJ says that Vermont is dealing with IR1s from March 25 but our noa1 is march 9th and we're still waiting...our lawyer phoned and they said they are working on February 9th at the moment, meaning they're a month behind...I hope that was just a stalling tactic and not the actual truth.

Lest we forget about the joyous, wondrous world of administrative processing.

A thousand lives if I could give,
I would spend it all again with you,
Don't forget where you belong,
Only with me you are strong,
Not even the gods above can break,

About my / our application timeline: I filed in the 130 in the USA on September 15, 2014. Around April 10 (not sure of the exact date) I received the NVC case number. NVC closed our case on June 17, 2015, and now we are awaiting the date for the interview. We have not yet been given a date.

Hello,

Thank you for your post. Every time I call the NVC, the person on the phone tells me there is nothing I can do but wait! They won't tell me anything. But....I will try to call again today and ask specifically if there is a September interview date.

I will stay updated here on VisaJourney.

I got through to the NVC. Incredible, the person who answered the phone was actually sympathetic (it helps) and spoke to me like a human being! But, it doesn't matter, because all she could tell me was that scheduling for interviews for September at Accra, Ghana have stopped, and they will now start scheduling for October.

All she could tell me is there's a line, and I have to wait my turn.

Nothing new. she did say they'll start scheduling at the end of this week.
