To ease my mind and the minds of others, as well as to possibly avoid this question being asked in the future, how many of you used a co-sponsor for a K1 and got approved? What kind of financial situation were you in to need a co-sponsor? Hopefully this thread will take off.

I needed a co-sponsor for reasons unknown to me, my fiance makes 22 000 a year with no dependents, the 125% is 19 900. I suppose that was too close for them. But to be fair he recently got the position so the pay increase was reflected in his W2 or 1040. I guess that was why, but we got a co sponsor and got approved.

i self sponsored.

Question is consulate specific.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

We used a cosponsor because I'm currently not employed. My mother is elderly and has been unwell for a few years, and is now dealing with cancer. I have been her caregiver. That being said, I'm stable with savings, a place to live, etc. Having a cosponsor was of no issue for London. This is really a consulate specific question though, and it does not apply for every consulate.

Thank you for the replies. I realize this is consulate specific, but I have asked on the regional forums before and specially for Spain, and getting over 100 views without any replies... I'll settle for answers from people regardless of the embassy.
