Question about the final tasks before leaving Philippines

New here and been reading and learning. Advance apologies if this topic has been previously covered and I haven't come across it yet.

My question centers around going to the Philippines to join my fiance for the final tasks and fly home together. I know I can't join her in everything like the medical and CFO seminar, but at least I can be there.

For argument's sake, lets say I leave here on a Friday evening, arrive Saturday morning in Manila, meet my lady there and chill out saturday and Sunday. Medical monday, CFO tuesday, interview the next monday, wait 10 days for visa while saying goodbye to family and friends, get CFO sticker and fly home friday.

Total vacation time from work -> 3 weeks.

Does this seem like a do-able timeline or am I dreaming?

Dreaming. Can it happen? Possible, but I would not put money on it myself

Medical: Monday-Tuesday

CFO: Wednesday

Interview: Following Monday

Visa issued: UNKNOWN (Even after issued it can be another 7-10 days before the visa is delivered. APPROVED/ISSUED does not happen at the interview)

CFO: Get sticker after you receive visa, only a few hours needed for this once you have the visa.

Lastly read the bold print in the embassy instructions letter: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/K1-K2%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you

I suggest you come and support her for the interview and then wait for the visa delivery and possibly the two can fly together. Put the three weeks on the back end. There are too many what ifs. Good luck. Edited by Greenbaum

The following relates to CR1 and not K1. Also just my personal opinion so take it for what it's worth. My wife and I are VERY confident in each others capabilities and each couple's situation is independently different. She trusted me to take care of the paperwork in an expeditious manner and for the most part I did. But there were detours in our journey that neither of us could foresee, even up to the final interview date.

I don't of course know your fiancé's situation, but I do know there is absolutely no support you can give her during the medical or cfo. You'll be spinning your wheels during those days. Book her a room at Bocobo and let her take it from there.

Let's say you stick to your 3 week timeline and buy your RT and her 1 way based on your desires and expectations. And let's say SLEC wants the docs from a previous procedure she doesn't have or they see the false positive on her x-ray. You've now just basically thrown away her ticket and eventually requiring another set some time in the future. Or let's say the CO want's just more original doc that you/her forgot to get. It happens. It happened to us. Another week delay at a minimum. Or it takes 2 weeks to get out of USEM and another week plus to get delivered. Possibly less if in MM or C. Luzon, possibly longer if its Samar or Davao. Again you're out of luck travel wise.

I'm sure you are longing to be together again to plan the rest of your life and as several poster have expessed in other threads its a nice experience to attend the interview. My wife on the other hand the interview was anti-climatic. 5-10 min tops. What's my name, where do I live, how did we meet? General chit chat while he was sifting through the ap package and didn't find the missing doc. #######. I asked if she missed me not being there and her response was no, nothing for you to do there. Just like SLEC and CFO.

And speaking from recent experience, if you don't go to cfo with visa in pp and IF the seminar leader just gives her an attendance slip vs. actual completion certificate and IF her seminar leader is not there to verify attendance when your fiancé goes back with visa you can add another 1-3 days for success.

What I'm driving at is the end of your journey is still a breeding ground for mis-steps. My suggestion and I'm sure that 99% of the people here won't agree with me and it is totally monetarily driven is that you let your fiancé mature in Manila over a couple of trips. If she has never been it will be a growing experience for her. If she has been in Manila before then all this will be just another inconvenience for her. Keep in touch via Skype, ym, or whatever. If you have known each other for a while, another 6 weeks or so at this stage, won't make a big difference. Wait until you know there is no issue at slec or usem. When you know that pp is on the way, or possibly when the interview is scheduled then plan your travel. Plan to arrive the day before interview, rest up, then wake up at 4:30 so you can join the throng that has scheduled apt at 2 in the afternoon let alone the 6:30 appts. Backload the most time for goodbyes and bon voyages at the tail end and hope for the best at the interview.

This is a long discourse and I'm not trying to burst you bubble but do want you to aware of possible problems at the front end. I wish you and yours the best of luck and pleasant journey to the US in the future.
