I-864a question

Hey all!

I'm currently filing out paperwork as a co sponsor for my dads petition to bring my mom and sisters over. I'm stumped with the current income question. I currently work 2 full time jobs. So do I add both hourly salaries? Or do I just copy what's on my w2 and add both numbers?

Also, me and my husband filed jointly in our taxes. But with me working 2 full time jobs, I make over the poverty guidelines alone. Do I need to have my husband fill out a separate I-864a as well because we filed jointly in taxes?

I hope you guys can enlighten me with this dilemma.

Also, me and my husband filed jointly in our taxes. But with me working 2 full time jobs, I make over the poverty guidelines alone. Do I need to have my husband fill out a separate I-864a as well because we filed jointly in taxes? Your husband does not have to file an I-864a.

I hope you guys can enlighten me with this dilemma.

Thanks for the fast reply! Can I bother you with another question? With the sponsors household size, do I count my husband as well since he lives in the same principal residence as the petitioner? You must include your husband in your household in accordance with the I-864 instructions. The petitioner (your parent) does not include your husband in his/her household. Also, What do I write on total income for each tax year? I have a form 1040. Use your W-2s since you are not using your husband's income.

Household for the I-864 is a legal definition. It is not used in the normal everyday sense. Just because related people live in one house, it doesn't mean that they are one household.

For example; 2 brothers and their families share a house. That does not make them one household. There are two households sharing a house.

Unless your dad claims you and your husband on his taxes or the two of you claim him on your taxes, then it's two household sharing a home. Your dad is his own household. You and your husband are a separate household.

Your dad's household = 4 = him + his wife + his two daughters who he is petitioning for

Your household = 5 = you + your husband + the three intending immigrants

Nope. You claimed him on the 2014 tax return, so dad is counted in your household.

Your household increases by 1 because you claimed dad on your most recent tax return = 6 = you + your husband + your tax dependent dad + the 3 intending immigrants.

i have a question about paying the AOS guys.

how can i pay the AOS fee for the joint sponsor? i didn't see any options there except for the petitioner only...please help. both of us are going to file for it as for my situation so i guess we need to pay 2 forms of it or that 120.00 payment will already include the joint sponsor fee?

If you are using a joint sponsor then both you and him/her will fill out a separate i-864.
