K1 VISA: Had Medical examination at London Embassy. Doctor spotted little problem?! (merged threads/postings)

Hi everyone

I had my medical today at Knightsbridge Doctors medical in London for the K1 fiancé visa. Everyone was so nice to me except for the last doctor I saw. She was really blunt and horrible to me. She took my blood, checked my eye sight ; i am short sighted.. and she was being rude to me that I don't wear glasses (I do have glasses though).. yet i do not want to and it is my personal issue. I was stressing out ridiculously and she irritated me with her behaviour. I started burning up from the nervousness and i felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest lol. Yet i didn't give off like I was nervous. She started listening to my heart and she said it was beating too fast (DUE TO BEING NERVOUS).. then she told me to calm down but I couldn't. She suggested that I have tachycardia - abnormal rapid heart rate.. and she said that she could hear some noise but she wasn't sure. I have never had any symptoms of irregular heart beat... and To be honest, she seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. Rude and unprofessional. She's written me a letter and referred me to a GP so he can check my heart beat again. My process is going to be delayed. Can anyone tell me if this will effect my Visa? Can I get denied? Please can anyone help me out?

No lol I didn't get upset over that specifically. I was already stressed out on the day and she just pushed my buttons even further.

I wasn't asking about this, i asked about the other issue.

I remember once going to the doctor (my GP not for the medical) and having a scare, then having my pulse checked and was told it was high. Luckily he realised I was just stressed and checked a few minutes later and just figured that it was all fine.

I get really stressed about this process too. Some people handle it better than others. I think I sweated a pint and a half while I was in the waiting room for my medical! I'm sorry one of your doctors was a bit rude about things.

Your visa will be delayed while the GP checks your heart, but the worst thing you can do is stress about it. Go in there knowing your heart is just fine, and even explain how stressed you were at the time of your Medical. The GP will most likely understand.

Trusting that there's nothing wrong with your heart you won't be denied.

People live every day with a slightly off heartbeat... it's fairly common. My other half has a funny little skip in her heart (and it's not the romantic type! lol). Try not to stress going in to the GP for your referral, and do tell them there what had happened. You might be lucky and they'll just listen to your heart, see it's fine, and roll their eyes about the other doctor being so rude. They must understand that it's a stressful process for people.

Yes, it is a very stressful process and some take it easier some take it harder.

Are you saying IF I do end up having something off with my heart, I will get denied? Can they actually deny me on that?

It would depend on what's wrong with it (if there is anything at all). I don't know the specifics but I've been looking into lots of medical stuff lately (I'd been stressing too!) and as far as I can tell they only really deny you if you have something very serious that would mean you're going to America to die (not to be insensitive) or going over and won't be able to work and will have to live off the state. If it's not killing you (again, not meaning to be insensitive) and it's not stopping you from working (once you are legal to do so!) I don't think they'd have reason to deny you.

If you use illegal drugs they'd deny you or give you a few years ban. And if you have some big contagious disease you might have problems, but the medical nurse wasn't sure if she heard something wrong, AND you were stressed out by her too.

I've had many tests and had my blood pressure and heart checked a few times, and it's something I've had to learn how to 'calm down' because I'm a generally anxious person. You can try it before you go for your appointment, and do it when the GP checks you out. As soon as they come at you with their gear you just block everything else out and focus on your breathing. Take slow, deep, calming breaths and try to relax your arms and chest muscles. Like you're taking some nice and settling sighs of relief. You might even feel your heart beat calming down some when you concentrate on your breathing. I know I do, and it always just shows that my heart is fine when it's not being freaked out by rude doctors and stressful appointments.

You'll be fine. Just remember to breathe. It's just a follow up check. The only thing you can do to help things along is breathe through it and keep calm as best you can. Avoid caffeine or energy drinks before your appointment too because they might make you jittery.

In the event there is something wrong with your heart, you should certainly get it looked at.

A heart condition is considered a Class B condition. This information must be disclosed to the doctor prior to the examination. If they find something that indicates an issue then it will have to be reviewed by a GP. They do this to cover their bottoms. A Class B condition is not an automatic reason for denial of a visa. I had done this research because my fiance has asthma that must be treated daily. We wanted to be prepared when he went to his medical so we had a letter from his GP detailing he medications and course of treatment.

The other question about the delay...that all depends on how quickly you are able to get the information back to Knightsbridge. The doctor requested some more information about a case of depression my fiance had 3 years ago and a pinched nerve he has in his shoulder. His medical was on July 31st. His GP put together the letter we emailed it on August 5th and they had his approved medical results to the embassy on August 10th.

Best wishes and try not to worry. I know it is hard but you are in the final steps now, hang in there. This is the chat I say to myself every morning and every night before I go to bed. So far it is not helping but it sounds good when you say it.

My blood pressure was absolutely fine. I don't suffer from anxiety.. I just get stressed out too easily. I will mention that for the past few months I have been stressed out due to family reasons and it has effected my health. (I know! not good) I don't have any thyroid condition or history of heart problems in my family either.

Being under stress to the point it affects your health is suffering from anxiety to some degree. I know it well. That being said, if it came on suddenly during a stressful situation, it does sound like a classic anxiety attack. First time for everything right? Nevertheless, should it not be, it's always good to get it checked anyway.

Others are right here; it's all going to be all right. You've come through the hardest parts of this visa process... the waiting! there is a lot hanging in the balance of this and that is why you were stressed. Completely understandable. This will be easy compared to the frustrating wait you just went through. Just look at it as a minor speed bump. Get the needed info back to Knightsbridge as soon as you can, and keep the process flowing. You're almost there, and I promise, it will all be worth it.

Yeah I wouldn't worry it's normal for a lot of people to be stressed in any dr office. Next time tell the Dr if they are concerned to give you a chill pill. My heart rate has never been under 110 at dr office. Now if you are at like 160-170 then that might be a little extreme.

So I had my examination yesterday at Knightsbridge doctors and the lady sent me a referral to my GP as she heard something when she was checking my heart.

I went to see my GP today and the DR heard the same thing. Ive never had heart problems... NEVER. I have been checked before and i never had heart problems.. Nobody ever told me I have heart murmur. So this is news to me...

Can anyone tell me if i can get denied because of this? I am so heartbroken. I can't stop crying because of this.. it might effect my future with my fiance. I don't want this to ruin everything.

Please help!
