White House Staffer Arrested for Firing Gun at Boyfriend

Barvetta Singletary, a Special Assistant to President Barack Obama and House Legislative Affairs Liaison, was arrested and charged with domestic violence over the weekend after allegedly firing a gun in the direction of her boyfriend, who serves as a U.S. Capitol Police officer.

NBC Washington reported Monday:

According to charging documents, Barvetta Singletary sent her boyfriend a text on Friday, asking him to come to her Upper Marlboro home for sex. After they had sex, Singletary confronted her boyfriend about other woman he was dating.

Investigators say Singletary asked her boyfriend to step outside, and they both went to his car. Once inside the car, police say Singletary asked to see her boyfriend’s cellphones. When he refused, Singletary reached into his bag and retrieved two cell phones and the victim’s .40 caliber Glock 23 service weapon, charging documents state.

Singletary ran back into her home and the victim followed, pleading with her to return his weapon.

Police say Singletary demanded that the victim give her the passwords to the phones, but he refused.

Singletary then pulled the gun out of its holster, pointed it at the victim and said, “You taught me how to use this. Don’t think I won’t use it,” the arrest warrant said.

When the victim again refused to give her the passwords, Singletary said, “Your phone is more important than me holding the gun on you.”

Police say Singletary pointed the gun in the victim’s direction and fired one round.

Fearing for his life, the victim ran away from the home. The victim told police he saw Singletary wipe the gun down with a towel. He then called 911.

Singletary has reportedly been placed on unpaid leave and had her access to the White House revoked. Before joining the White House staff, she worked as Policy Director for the Office of the Assistant Democratic Leader, Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC).

Of course! Anyone who belongs to the Democratic party or is black, Hispanic, Latino, etc is unstable in your book. But at least you're open minded. It must be a tough swallow even for you to have to back Trump.

It's not hard at all. He's white and running for Presidency under the GOP banner. Lib is going to back him on those two principles alone. The fact he said those things about folks from Mexico was just a bonus.

But the real conservatives don't want to vote for Trump. But they aren't too bright so they will vote GOP no matter who runs. It is presenting quite a dilemma for many here, most of them just haven't voiced an opinion yet as they are hoping that Trump doesn't get the nomination. There are quite a few hard core Republicans/Conservatives here, yet only about 2 have spoken in favor of Trump. The others are ######## bricks.

I think most have, but lost thinks only people who are black or associated with Obama do things like this woman did. Or if she was white, there would be some justification for it.

I like Carson and Fiorino. I thought Rubio had a good shot, but after the debates, not so much. Still, lets see what he can caucus.

and no, Trump's a blowtard, ain't no way I'd support him, even if he wins the nomination at the RNC coming up.

Ya, I remember one - she got drunk and called me on the phone and cried and cried, when I had another lass (who I married later) at the house. Funsies and Hilarity !!!

Looking back, I know she didn't have weapons, but her brothers always did, and that was back in the '80s...

I think we have some hard core Republicans, if you don't think conservative is the proper label. There are several here who would only vote Republican no matter what. But they don't want to be forced to vote for Trump. They are afraid, that's why so few are backing him so far. They may come out of the closet, time will tell. Going through their minds right now is the thought, I have to vote Republican, Trump is an idiot, but if he gets the nomination, I have to vote vote for him, But I'm not going to make myself look like a fool and endorse him here at VJ. At least not yet, maybe when a few more come out of the closet it will be safter.

Face it, anyone who is backing Trump at this point is a laughing stock here. That may change in the not so distant future. What scares me? There are a lot of people in this country with that mentality.
