Hi

So my fiancé and I want to secure her a k-1 visa to the USA. She is a Philippine resident BUT she is currently teaching over in Turkey on a work permit and will be for another year or until we can have a visa secured.

So my question is can she have her interview in the embassy in turkey instead of the one in Manila? Or does she have to leave her job, go to Manila and do the interview there. If she leaves her job she will not be rehired.

If the above is not clear please ask me to clarify what is unclear. Thank you. Jack

I believe she can request that her interview take place in the US Embassy in Turkey. She has to provide evidence that she is legally residing there (i.e. valid work visa, proof of residency). You can send the request letter and supporting documentation to NVC and it will be up to them to decide if she qualifies.

on the paperwork you are filing,

you include the name of the embassy where she is to interview.

Seems to me, you control stuff, given a particular calendar, so it's good yer planning ahead !

Alas, the poster is chasing a K-1 visa,

and K-1 visa chasers have NO INPUT into NVC at all, at least no input that's useful/meaningful.

Sorry.

This 'location' has to be indicated on the I-129F petition form, submitted into USCIS lockbox.

Declare that she is now residing in Turkey but a Philippine citizen. On your I-129F, mailing address should be Turkey, then declare all others like country of birth and citizenship, etc as Philippines.

Your fiance doesn't have to be in Manila for you to process K1 Visa.

Then on Part 2, question 36. a. Specify Turkey as the US Embassy that she will apply for the Visa if you think she will be still in Turkey by the time your application is approved. Please note that if you declare Turkey, all requirements and medical examination swill be based on local Turkey regulations.

Yes she can have her interview in Turkey, just make sure to NOT list a Philippines "home" address for your fiancee, doesn't matter what you put on page 4, part 2 of the I-129F for choosing embassy NVC doesn't look at that, they only check the beneficiary address information, so make sure it states Turkey.

Just spoke to her about this and she does not have a work visa but a residence permit?? Her boss never got the work visas. Does this matter? I am going to google residence permit, maybe it is broader scope?
