I was looking over the visa connection Philippines and Filipino American visa center and was wondering will I need to provide all or some of the following from the K1 visa step by step? Just anything as proof of ongoing relationship?

What to send to your fiance once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):

1. A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one). Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well). 2. Send copies of the documentary proof that you submitted with the I-129F for your fiance to have on hand for their interview at the embassy. Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well). 3. Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F). 4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all. 5. You will need several items (for the above form). Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate:

(A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance
(B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)
© If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern
(D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. See this FAQ for more tips and useful information on the Affidavit of Support Form. 6. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. (backup information; the embassy will have copies of this as well) 7. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs (pick several over the prior few months), etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).

Examples: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate emails and letters you have sent including the stamps on envelopes (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND A COPY OF THE ENTIRE PETITION PACKAGE (WASTE OF TIME & ENERGY). I SUGGEST TO SEND YOUR FIANCEE A COPY OF YOUR G-325A AS THAT WILL HAVE THE INFO SHE WOULD NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU FOR THE INTERVIEW.

2. Send copies of the documentary proof that you submitted with the I-129F for your fiance to have on hand for their interview at the embassy. Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well).

NOT NEEDED EITHER.

3. Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).

USEM HAS NOT ASKED FOR THE LETTER OF INTENT TO MARRY IN ALMOST 4 YEARS.

4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.

YES YOU NEED TO PROVIDE THE I-134 WITH ORIGINAL SIGNATURE.

5. You will need several items (for the above form). Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate:

(A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance

NOT NEEDED AT USEM.

(B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)

NOT NEEDED, UNLESS YOU ARE A NEW EMPLOYEE.

© If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern

EMBASSY WANTS A COPY OF YOUR MOST RECENT TAX RETURN AND W-2. DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE SELF-EMPLOYED OR NOT.

(D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

FOR SURE NOT NEEDED. USEM IS NOT INTERESTED IN ASSETS.

Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. See this FAQ for more tips and useful information on the Affidavit of Support Form. 6. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. (backup information; the embassy will have copies of this as well)

7. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs (pick several over the prior few months), etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).

YOU DO NEED TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF AN ONGOING RELATIONSHIP

Examples: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate emails and letters you have sent including the stamps on envelopes (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

I will answer within your post. /\

Rule # 1: FOLLOW THE EMBASSY INSTRUCTIONS LETTER FOR WHAT IS REQUIRED.

Ok, I have another question that my fiancee asked me because she told me her friend had to do it. Do the CENOMAR, birth certificates, etc need to be taken to the DFA and be stamped/red ribbon? Her friend told her she needs to do it but the embassy checklist doesn't say anything about it. An example is attached. and thank you Hank for that reply :)

None of the documents for the interview need to be "red ribbon". Go with all things in the EL and you will be fine. That's false information.

Her friend is very uninformed... ;) No you do not need RED RIBBON for anything... except cakes, Red Ribbon cakes are pretty good.

Hello, I am now filling out the DS160 form and I am at the section where it asks has anyone filed an immigrant petition on your behalf. Do I put yes here because of the K1 visa that was just approved in Oct 2015? Thanks

NO. K-1 is not an IMMIGRANT visa, it is a non-immigrant visa.

Thanks for all the help so far, have another question here. I came across a problem when scheduling an interview. When I confirmed the interview and came to the confirmation page the DS160 number showed an older number from last year that I submitted for her visitors visa that never happened and this was the second time scheduling the interview. I am going to try and call the embassy again but wondered why it did that since I just finished a new DS160 for her K1 when this old number was for a B2 visa (from July 2015) any advice or experience with this?

Don't worry about the old DS-160 showing up, just remember to bring the new confirmation page for the newly completely DS-160 to the interview. Happens all the time.

As mentioned by previous post, NO. None of my docs was with a red ribbon during the interview. I was never required to do this my entire professional life.

Fact - You only need to have your docs with Red ribbon if your are applying as filipino overseas workers. I only know this is being done for educational credentials which was required by some employers abroad.

Ok another question here about medical requirements. What do they mean by the below from the SLEC website? Letter from Manila embassy or NVC? I only got an email from Manila embassy saying we could schedule her interview, is this what they want? Thanks

Letter with Case Number

  • Principal Applicant - original & 1 photocopy
  • Derivatives - 1 photocopy each

If Letter of Case Number was received via email, print 2 copies for the principal applicant and 1 copies for each derivative.

They want copies of the interview confirmation page/email, or a copy of the NVC letter/email with the MNL # . If you have not scheduled your interview yet, did you get a letter from NVC with the MNL#? Info on email NVC to get a reply with the MNL # in the link in my signature. Some have squeaked by with copies of the CEAC status page showing their MNL#

I did not get a letter from the NVC at all but an email from the embassy with the MNL# so I used it to create the appointment. I just emailed the NVC to see about getting an email from them. What do they mean by derivative on the SLEC website? The petitioner or her children?
