Ugh....this is all so frustrating. We got a RFE for our medical and we sent it in and it was received on June 16th,2015. They said to wait 60 days before making an inquiry about them receiving it. I had made an inquiry a few weeks ago by phone about why the case was taking so long. It said they sent a response right away online, which we still have not received. I called today and was told to wait....again wait....ugh. I tried to get them send me to a tier 2 officer because tier 1 is still saying my case was received in Nebraska July 28st, 2014 and is still in NE, which is so not the case as it is in Chicago now. They refused to send me to tier 2 saying they would have no more info than I was already given. She even tried telling me there was no way I could see that the inquiry was responded to and I said I am looking at it right now on your website for my case. If they only give 85 days to respond to an RFE and you can't even find out if they are processing it, what if you reach that 85 days and they lost it??? Has anyone called more than once in a day and got any better answers? I am scared they keep a log about how many times you call...and then say ok they are a pain...bump them back some more lol. My senator has made 2 inquires since the case has been in Chicago and hasn't heard anything back yet.

RFE for a new medical. I was under the impression if you file within one year of actually landing in the states on your K1 you would NOT require another medical if your AOS is outside of the one year expiration of the medical exam. Is that true that you potentially will need another medical if your original k1 medical expired and you filed for AOS within that one year timeframe?

No it dosen't matter how many times you call. You can set up an info pass appointment to discuss that RFE, if you have the return card showing they signed for it. Then you will be able to talk to someone other than a Tier 1.

Starting June 1, 2014, USCIS will limit the validity period for all Forms I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, to one year from the date of submission to USCIS. Applicants must also submit Form I-693 to USCIS within one year of the immigration medical examination. USCIS will also provide additional ways to submit Form I-693. As outlined in policy alert PA-2014-005, this updated policy applies to any Form I-693 supporting a benefit application that USCIS adjudicates on or after June 1, 2014.

USCIS will hold an engagement on June 12, 2014 to address questions about the new policy and provide guidance on filing Form I-693. We have also updated the Form I-693 Web page on our website.

There's a chance. Honestly, it's all over the place. My husband's AOS took 364 days. We got the NPIW letter 5 1/2 months after filing and then a RFE for a new medical 10 months after filing. Some didn't get RFEs for new medicals. Also, it's been 3 weeks and the card hasn't even been shipped.

For those who were approved but have not received the card days and days after receiving the welcome letter, here is my story:

I was approved on July 16th, received the welcome letter 5 days later. Then no new. Called USCIS this Monday asking for a tracking number, no luck. Called again yesterday, no luck. So I decided to make a e-request on not receiving the card. Magically, they updated my status to "card was mailed to me" today. And the e-request I made yesterday was process as "request to resend card".

So, let's not bother talk to tier 1s, do the e-request and get your card mailed to you

Do not worry. It happened to me in the same day and only one hour between the two notification. First I got (Card being produced) and the second ( Welcome Notice Mailed). I got the welcome letter after 6 days from this notification. Everything is ok. I am still waiting for my green card though.

I am so glad so many of you are nearing the end of your process!

I am about to begin the AOS journey and I am getting mixed reviews. I started a thread a few days ago, but not many people chimed in.

We will be the NYC field office, which we already know has delays. That being said, is it more prudent to include evidence of the relationship and possible end up with an interview waiver, or stick only to the forms and try to force an interview.

I have been trying to collect data for days on which the best route would be, but Igor's lists for AOS seem to be sorely out of touch for this phase, with an average of 303 days between NOA1 and approval. I think the problem is that it is just a general AOS and not specifically K1/family based AOS, because what I am seeing people experience is far longer.

Any input about which way to go would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure you'd be doing yourself any favors by withholding evidence. We're already K-1 filers; we already provided evidence for that process. That's probably why we're getting NPIWs. I have a hunch they're just taking the K-1's and pushing them aside without looking at them. I don't think you'll be able to force an interview and you're putting yourself at risk of an RFE, which would delay it even more once they pick up your case.

Granted I have no idea what actually happens in the NBC and whether they're scanning for evidence or not. Just seems like a lot of extra work on their part. I'm interested to see if anyone else has tried this tactic.
