August 2015 I-130 Filers

Hi everyone!

We sent our petition on July 20,but haven't gotten our paper NOA1 yet. I learned our check cleared our bank on August 11. 3 weeks!

Is that at all normal?

We still don't know what service center we are at. Our paperwork was filed by a lawyer because our joint sponsor only felt comfortable that way. Our lawyer didn't include a g-1145 ( the email form). When I found out he didn't I just about HAD KITTENS! I really don't understand why that would ever be left out.

Anyway, does anyone have any idea why it would take 3 weeks for them to cash the check? I'm worried it's a bad sign.

How long after the check is cashed can we expect to wait to get our paper NOA1?

I just feel we're not off to a great start... :-(

Hi i think the petitionar can call USCIS and ask if it's possible to send an e-notification. They are usually very helpful. You can ask your file number and where it was transferred to... If your check was cashed then your lawyer probably received NOA1. Give each one a call and demand answers from your lawyer. I would do it...

Maybe the lawyer didnt send it out when he/she told you they did.

Be careful, I went to consult with a lawyer before sending my I-130 because I got denied the K-1 and the lawyer gave a lot of wrong info. Told me to send 4 copies of the G-325a with my packet and no evidence at all. I'm glad I didnt listen.

Nothing for now. Try to not think about it.

But as far as forms you'll need once you get NOA2:

You'll need to have a I-864 for then, also be prepared to show evidence of domicile or that you are in the process of it. If you want to get tax receipts from IRS now is probably a good time to get them.

Also, you'll need police records from all the countries you've lived in the last ten years. For example, here is how to get them for Poland:

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/PL.html

But I think they have to be not too old (not sure the expiry date) so I would wait a bit closer to when you think your NOA2 will arrive.

I think this website gives more instructions:

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents.html

Also, a good thread to help with the NVC process:

We sent our file on 08/04 to the Chicago Lockbox and to the right address (this time: tripled checked), delivered on 08/06, and still no NOA1. Should we call USCIS or wait the 10 days period? I am certainly not a patient person. But 8 days without a NOA1, everyone else's file take up to 5 days!

Other question: is anyone filing a I-129F too to make the process faster?

I'm waiting for my NOA1 too, although my I-130 only arrived yesterday. Let us know if you end up calling, and when you get the NOA1. In the meantime, try to put it out of your mind and think about other things over the weekend :)

I'm not applying for 129 btw. If i recall correctly they usually end up being approved at the same time anyway these days. I might, however, try to do direct consular processing if/when I get a job offer in the US.

We sent ours on July 20th and still have no NOA1. Our check wasn't even cashed until August 11th or 12th. It's sad but just because other people get things faster is no guarantee we will. That's a hard lesson. :-/
