Need some peace of mind about my packet

Hi all,

Forgive me if this is a super familiar topic on this forum.

I sent my fiancé visa packet out last monday (one week ago), was informed via my USPS tracking that it arrived on Thursday, and still haven't gotten any word that it was actually received. I also sent a personal check for payment and that has yet to be cashed. I know everyone's been saying to just be patient, but it's so hard and all these awful scenarios keep going through my mind. Should I have put the whole packet into an envelope and then put that envelope into the mailing envelope? I thought about it, but was advised against it. I'm just worried that something's going to get lost somehow. Just need a bit of encouragement that everything is going as it should go. How long after USPS delivers the package should it take for someone to send word that it's processing?

Silly, silly, silly. It's all so scary, guys!

Check out my post, just prior to yours. I found communication between the government and me was very poor, but the process sped along anyway and everything has worked out well.

Fair enough - Thanks! I'm just being paranoid, I'm sure. My packet hasn't even made it to the NVC yet - it's only just arrived at the Lockbox on Thursday.

Your petition won't go to the NVC until after you receive your NOA2.

I know when I submitted my petition, a whole week went by until I received notification that the USCIS confirmed receipt and gave me NOA1. (see my signature below.) I was feeling anxious too and kept checking to see when the payment cleared.

After you get NOA1, you will need to create an account with USCIS and turn on (even if you originally submitted that e-notification form) your text/email notifications to get notified of your NOA2.

Oh, I know. Believe me, I've viewed and reviewed the timelines. :) I was just making it clear that I was being anxious about my NOA1 and not anything to do with the NVC... yet. Haha.

Okay. So I won't start REALLY panicking until Thursday. Good to know. Thanks so much!

Oh, and one more thing. I remember specifically checking to see if the payment cleared the day my NOA1 e-notification was received; it hadn't. I used money order, so it may clear faster with a personal check.

There has only been 1.5 working days between its arrival at the Lockbox. They don't work over the weekend. You'll be fine. I sent mine FedEx on a Saturday (Feb 14). It arrived on Monday the 17th . I didn't get my email/text until Feb 20 and my official NOA1 date is Feb 19. They probably processed it today, or will tomorrow. Relax.

These petitions are handled by hand, and they process much, much more than the K1s and they get about 1500 of just K1s per month, which means that (over 20 working days per month), they get 75 of those per day---to disassemble, put in the order they want to, check for signatures, and cash checks. Then add in all the i-130s, DACA petitions, H1Bs etc etc.

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. 29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3

04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

No one is being sent to TSC anymore. Not since March 27. 100% routed to CSC, which has doubled it's average time. All the way to 40 days.
