In NVC month two, and things are moving along nicely!

Got my case number last Thursday, filled in the DS-261 on Friday, and today, Tuesday, the AOS fee was available online to pay!

The only thing stopping me from sending in the packages this week is I'm waiting on my cosponsor!! As a USC abroad with no assets, I need one, and my parents can't (already sponsored my brother-in-law) so I've asked two different friends, and just waiting for one of them to get me their papers . . .

Hoping to get everything sent out by the end of the month, so that, fingers crossed, our plan to move early 2016 will still be possible!

You are on the move. The NVC received our case the same day but my case number was assigned a day after so, so hopefully tomorrow I can pay the fees since you were able to do it today?

This is turning into a horse race :) Did you get your AOS bill via email or was it available on the website? We're still waiting for the AOS invoice. Did you get your welcome letter and packet from the NVC?

Guys, it has been 13 days since the NVC received my case, but still no case #! :(

How much longer now?? Would it really be 4 weeks till I get a case # assigned?

I have been calling regularly but the same response every single day.

I'm really freaking out here. :(

It's been 18 days for me too, no sign of case # assigned yet, and I'm getting impatient with NVC. :crying: Hubby called them last Friday n no good news.

Dont worry about it too much like they said it can take UP TO 4 weeks for a case number. I know its hard to be patient with these things but please dont stress you will all get a case number assigned soon

I filled the DS261 and I saw COMPLETE. ...After that I clicked on the choice of agent button at the top left of the page and the ds261 form opened again. I signed out and signed in again to check if any change is there but still the choice of agent shows complete. Is there any problem for opening the the for again ?

Hi Everyone,

So I made the first of what I will imagine to be many calls to NVC. I called on and off since 5pm finally got the ring at 11:30...They answered at 11:56 and told me the case was received on July 24th and they have begun to enter it into the system. Then they fed me the B.S. line that case number can take up to 42 days to be assigned...What!!! I'm not buying that. I was calculating the 12 days from when USCIS sent it (20th July), but after reading some ofyou guys's timeline I'm willing to adjust my expectations and give them 12 days after receipt.

Is the 42days a new thing? For those of you who got your case number, did they tell you 42 days first, but then after trying you got it in the general 12 days? I just want to have a realistic expectation. Feeling so sad :( I want this case number so bad.....

Your case number should available around 12 days from when NVC received your petition.

Supposedly NVC had a backlog last year, see here: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/AILA/AILA%20NVC%20November%202014.pdf

Thankfully it appears to be better now.

*Important note: Once you fill in the DS-261 and it shows as complete, do NOT go back into the DS-261 as it will re-set the date and start the clock all over again for ~30 business days.

Hi saylin,

Good day,

My spouse filed I-130 for me on March 5th 2015 while he was a legal permanent resident. The I-130 was approved from USCIS on May 5th 2015 and they forward the file to NVC. We got nvc case number in June 3rd 2015. Now Myspouse become US Citizen on 16th July 2015 and our attorney sent the naturalization certifictae and my husband's change of name certificate from the district court in mail to the NVC. And on 28th july 2015 my visa category change to CR1. Recently we got a mail from NVC that they need 30 days to review documents and after they will inform if they need any further documents or schedule for interview.

We paid fees but we didn't submit affidavit of support. So when I can submit this document and DS230. Is it take long time?

Thanks in advance..

How long is it taking everyone to get a confirmation CC email from NVC after the 3 N/A's show up?

u mentioned not to touch the link when waiting for ds261 to be reviewed.... I touched it by mistake and it opened again ....when I sign in again... still it shows as COMPLETE. is there anything I should do because I touched the link?? Coz I submitted DS261 and still AOS fee is not showing payable ... evenue I cant sign in the payment portal link. Did u resubmitted ds261 because of this or other reason?
