Mr. Deniz is Mexican, and the Obama administration deems him a legal permanent resident who entered the country legally on May 31, 2013 though they didnt say how he earned that status initially.

Crime amongst Mexican immigrants has become a major issue in recent weeks after Mr. Trump, in announcing his presidential campaign, said Mexico sends criminals, drug dealers, rapists to the U.S.

His comments have been challenged by Hispanic-rights activists who said they were offensive and incorrect, pointing to statistics that immigrants generally have lower crime rates than native-born Americans.

But a spate of recent high-profile murders with illegal immigrants as the chief suspects has sharpened the debate, and put a focus on American immigration policy partly because the suspects have often had previous run-ins with immigration authorities.

Indeed, just a month ago Mr. Deniz was arrested by police in Worland, Wyo., on burglary charges. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were informed, but they couldnt do anything because he was a permanent resident, and his crime didnt rise the level of being kicked out of the country.

If convicted in the new case, however, he could be deported, ICE said.

This individual does not have any criminal convictions, and, as a permanent resident, is not currently removable. Thus, an ICE detainer cannot be placed on the individual at this time, the agency said in a statement. However, ICE is closely monitoring this case and coordinating with local authorities. If he is convicted for a criminal offense that allows him to be removed from the country, after the completion of sentence, ICE intends to take him into custody and pursue his removal from the United States.

Worland police declined to comment on the earlier burglary case, saying its an active investigation.

I read the link and was making a calculated assumption. And, I made no judgment, just commentary. From your link 1.) He is a "Permanent Resident" i.e. Green Card holder, 2.) He is 18 years old, 3.) He was legally admitted on May 31, 2013 when he would have been 16 or, at the very least, a minor. While "Dreamer" may nave been more sarcasm, he appears to fit within the guidlines of DACA. Of course a relative could have petitioned him as well when he was like 3-4 years old given the current processing times for Mexico though that would seem less likely although always a possibility.

DACA people do not get a green card.

Another Obama poster child.

Actually more like the poster child of an NRA recruitment going horribly wrong. I think he was living the American dream. Here legally and in possession of the firearm that kept him from harm. Of course once the gun was used for armed robbery and murder you choose to focus on the fact that he was born in Mexico. Says a lot more about you than Obama who I am guessing was nowhere near any of the events leading up to the horrific OP.

Comes with AP and a route through Dacabilly. One of the interesting issues is that no Police check required for Mexicans. Would be interesting to know his full history, and Burglary can get you deported as a PR.

Well, it's not like people in this forum would know that, and how immigration works... What do you think this is? As if!

DACA people do not get a green card.

Lots of people with DACA have got Green Cards,

I'd still go with 'No, I didn't' and save some face. It's never a good idea to double down in these situations.

A simple 'No. I didn't' would have conveyed the same notion as the poor and garrulous non-sequitur offered.

Actually, I did read it and read some other stuff. If, as has been reported, he had lived with his family for years in Montana and as the link below states "He's lived here basically most of his life," then I would offer an educated guess that he attained his status through DACA. Could be totally wrong though.

some news reports i'm seeing now are saying the perp is illegally here.

ya, illegal aliens suck. prolly a drug mule a few months back, lost his load, and got way north to hide out.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

man that was fast (the ICE statement being issued) - I guess they be getting the word to be quick on this stuff, these days.

Still, illegal aliens suck.

So thru DACA Mexicans don't have to provide a police clearance from Mexico?

Not specific to DACA etc, no immigrant from Mexico needs Police clearance.

That's pretty interesting, and dangerous.

So you could be a career criminal in Mexico, Rapist, Child Molester, etc and the USA welcomes you to legally live in USA.

That sure don't seem right............

Not sure the reason why, either because they could not be had or they are not worth the paper they are written on.
