Just spoke to NVC.. but odd

Got off the phone after a 30 minute wait.. I asked how much longer for NVC to review my case, given it’s been more than 45 days since ds260 submitted. The agent said NVC is still having issues with (retrieving\accessing) DS260s. Rep could not guarantee NVC received my DS260, but assured me if a DS260 confirmation# was generated, then it’s in their system.

But what I found odd was the rep saying there is talk within NVC (ds260 issues, workload pressure) about possibly just sending cases to embassies\consulates and let them schedule interviews.. which could potentially mean no 'case completes' as we know it. Sounds like the 30/45/60/whatever estimate means nothing.

Anyone heard of such a thing, or was I just hog-washed?

I may not be much help but my husband recieved a letter from NVC on April 24th saying it would be about 60 days before they reviewed his case due to a heavy volume in applicants. But we got another letter by May 20th saying it was reviewed, then June 10th we recieved our consular appointment letter. We were surprised it didn't even take a full 30 days out of the 60 day window they gave us. I guess every case id different. Good luck and hope you get your case complete soon!

bear in mind that the sub-humans answering the phone at NVC are SERCO contractors, and it's a mix between:

1. poorly trained and

2. making stuff up to get you off the phone.

i take the 'consensus' approach - asking the same question across a 2 week period, carefully keeping track of the answers.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

The April-May time period was before the current NVC issues began. In that sense you lucked out. My lawyer too had suggested a 20-60 day window at NVC, with reality being closer to 20 days (lawyer's words).

We can only remiss those good ole days!

LOL.. well the Rep sounded human enough, but point 1 is valid.

June 11 ds260 submitted, and I'm being told they can't access my ds260 45 days later.. so point 2 seems valid too.

And to think our applicant fees and taxpayer funds supporting sub-par performance with little to no accountability!!

Hello.

For me as of today it has been exactly 70 BUSINESS days (weekends and holidays excluded) since my DS 269 was submitted. I have called numerous times and received numerous different answers as to why it is taking our case so long to complete even after requesting Expedite service, providing proof as to why our case needs to be expedited, being told by expedite as soon as I turn in the DS 260 they could proceed with the expedite, and just being told yesterday that our case was indeed routed to a Supervisor on June 3, 2015 exactly 39 BUSINESS days ago, yet the CSR did not see any further action on our case since it was sent to the "Supervisor for Review"... Looking at your timeline the one thing I see in common with my timeline is your Embassy is listed as "Armenia" as mine is too but this is actually false for me because my actual Embassy (Baghdad) was not listed and it defaulted to Armenia on here. Is your actial Embassy in Armenia or Did this happen to you too? Maybe the region we are applying for the Visas in is the reason we have such long waits for DS 260 reviews?

And it would be wonderful if IR1/CR1 at Case complete could just schedule their own interviews why not K1's get to.

I called three times, on the 4th redial around 1:50p, the call went through.. the recording saying wait time is approx 20 mins.

Sure enough, the system kept me on hold 27 mins till the Rep answered at 2:17p.

Edit: I called 603-334-0700

Heavy volume of applications and they are experiencing systems shutdown. One day 2 weeks ago every embassy was having a problem, My husband had to return the following week for biometrics and a gf in Brazil was told to come back another day for interview and they would notify her when to come. This was after she rode a bus 7 hours to get to the interview.

Hi Fishonchuck,

The way to get to speak to somebody is to keep hanging up & redialing over & over again for as long as it takes ( 1 hour of doing this was the most it ever took for me) until u hear a ring & not the recording...that is when u know u r going to get through. Yesterday when I called it took me 15 minutes to get a ring & then I was on hold for another 40 minutes before getting to actually speak to somebody. So, you just need to do it when you have a lot of time on your hands ?

I submitted my DS260 on July 5th and, as instructed, I printed out the confirmation page with bar code etc. Today, I received an email from DO-NOT-REPLY@STATE.GOV with a pdf of the same confirmation page that had been generated on July 5th. This does seem to go with what the agent told you about NVC still having issues with retrieving/accessing DS260s. Something is wrong.

OP, I also spoke to NVC yesterday to get an update about our supervisor review and was told the same about the backlog of DS-260. Apparently, while people were having problems accessing the CEAC website to pay and complete DS-260, NVC were having the same issue with accessing DS-260.

I submitted my DS-260 around April 25th and it still hasn't been reviewed, even got a checklist for "not submitting it". The woman on the phone said that NVC are extremely backlogged because of the previous technology issues. She didn't say anything about cases being sent straight to the embassy though. In fact, she told me the direct opposite because I asked if I couldn't just book an interview since NVC have all the information from us but was told no, an interview cannot be booked until NVC gives a case complete.

Guess we'll just have to hang in there and hope we get cc soon. It's soooo frustrating though. :(
