Affidavit of Support Questions for Manila Embassy

Hi Guys! We just got approved and got our NOA2 recently, Now our next problem is for my Affidavit of support documents, here's our case right now:

1. I know that Manila Embassy is only requiring last year of TAX return and W2.

2. Problem is, I did not have a job last year and my last tax return was 2 years ago.

3. I just got a job this year January 2015, and working as 1099 or self employed Web Developer and getting paid hourly my total salary for a year is $40,000/yearly.

4. I cannot provide and tax this year because 2015 tax return is not up for filing yet.

5. I do have Recent Pay check stubs, Bank Account Statement and Letter of employment.

Would this be enough?

Bring all those items including the last tax return you submitted. If you were making the same or near the same amount of money in 2013 then with what you have now I personally don't see a problem. The thing you have going for you, Is USEM has stopped asking, not completely, for the I-134 and supporting documents so they may not ask for them BUT we still recommend and so does the embassy letter outline the need to have those documents available at the interview. A heads up; you only need what is contained in the Embassy Letter so use it as your check list and when you have all the documents that are listed in the letter, you are ready for your interview.

The US Government just wants to be sure that people who come to the US don't become wards of the state.

Thank you so much for the replies, I feel more confident now, But I not have any recent tax return, I did not have a job on 2014 and my 2013 tax return has only 4k on its file because I was working part time.

I hope putting as much cash on my bank account could remedy that.

Personally I don't see how historical data (previous tax returns) have any bearing on capability to support a family TODAY. And for that matter in the global economy today, Last week's paystub has no bearing whatsoever if someone will have a job come Monday. I guess it would show trends though and if your bank statement shows a trend of income earnings leading towards $40K per year that would be a good sign.

Problem as always is that you will be dealing with a gvt agency. If you run into trouble just tell them you want to claim Mexican / Latin America exemption from earnings requirement and becoming a ward of the state, haha. USG is so hypocritical about all of this. Looking back over the past year or so journey that has probably been the one of my most frustrating issues.

I can go on about Illegal Aliens in USA all day, BS how they are welcomed into the USA

Last year I was flying from California to Manila with a short lay over in Japan, ICE was checking and questioning Philippines passport holders what they were doing in the USA and if they had worked.

This was after you went thru the gate and handed your ticket to the flight attendant and was about to board he plane, It pissed me off. I said to a couple of the ICE officers why are you bothering these people, they are trying to leave the country.

I know where you can round up thousands of Illegal aliens each day, but for some reason ICE doesn't care if you come to USA and you are from Mexico or countries south of mexico....

i made 22k last year ..do i need a co sponsor on this??and i work as a CNA BEFORE BUT i quit..im doing caregiving now.and its 1099 .do i need a letter of employment to the person who hired me??
