NVC Case number for K1

Hello All,

I called NVC for case number and received it. I tracked it on CEAC today and it shows "In Transit" to Juarez Mexico, however I'm a bit confused since it states "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center". I was under the impression I had to request interview with embassy in Juarez. Is there anything I should do at the moment or should I wait to receive the letter from NVC? I appreciate any help in advance.

They schedule your appt just wait for your letter...once you have it you schedule your medical and fingerprints

Is it for a K-1? If so, please fill out your timeline when you get a chance so that we can better assist you.

If it does apply to a K-1 visa, you will receive a letter from the Consulate as to when your case is ready and you can then schedule a Biometrics/ASC, Interview, etc. You will also need to file a DS-160 form if again, it is for a K-1 visa process and that can be done in the meantime to get the ball rolling. The IR-1/CR-1 visa process is totally different and they will schedule an available appointment for you but not applicable for a K-1.

Thanks for the guidance. It is for K1, I have updated my timeline so you can see how my case has progressed. I checked status on CEAC today and it shows as "Ready", it has a case creation date of 7/15 and it shows case updated 7/21.

Gera, for the link you provided do I have to register under my name (petitioner) or my fiance (beneficiary)

You can register either or but in our case, I registered using the case number, fiancé (wife's) passport number/DOB, and using my email address/password of choice since it made it more seamless in our case due to my familiarity with the K-1 visa process that is being used in Ciudad Juarez. I also filed her DS-160 online as the petitioner!

Hola once again,

You will receive a letter from the Juarez Consulate in regards to "your case being ready for processing" within 30 days or so that will have a link to the instructions on filing the DS-160 online, register for an account which is no longer applicable in your case, etc.

You can select the third option (I need to schedule a K visa appointment) and it should list the method for payment of the K visa fee in the meantime in case you would like to get that out of the way now. You can always come back to the site and continue where you left off at a later date. In our case, I opted to pay the K visa fees about 2 weeks before receiving the invitation letter from Juarez. If you feel more comfortable holding off on submitting the payment for the K visa fees at the moment, you can do so once you receive the letter while then proceeding fully with payment, selecting an interview appointment, ASC/Biometrics appointment, and DHL location.

I have attached the letter that I received for reference as to what you should expect. (I received it in the US and my fiancé (wife) never did in MX but I scanned it and emailed it to her for printing)

Hello Rafael,

Sorry for the delay in reply since I was on a camping trip with the family. If you have received the letter that I attached above for review, please feel free to proceed with paying the visa fee of $265 for the K-1, schedule the ASC/biometrics, Interview, and DHL location.

The NVC letter isn't really needed as long as you received the letter from the Consulate in Juarez.

Also, just in case the method of payment for the $265 visa fee option isn't available, it will be due to the lack of open "interview" dates at the Juarez Consulate. You might have to keep checking the site on a daily basis to see if there are any open slots available for interview and then proceed with payment, scheduling, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. Yea, I am encountering that issue at the moment. Do you happen to have an idea of how often interview dates open?

Not quite sure as far as when interview dates open up but I highly recommend that you check daily. I was fortunate to not encounter that issue but lately the Juarez Consulate has been busy!

If nothing is available by this Friday, I'm sure there will be open slots on the calendar by early next week at worse?

Hi Gera,

Thanks for all of your help and guidance. It really helps. We are set up for our interview on 9/3. ASC biometrics is set up for 9/2. Do I have to fill out any more forms/docs? I booked our flight to arrive 8/31 at night and will do the medical on 9/1. What suggestions can you give me?
