It's so serious. My husband is working with Western Union to find receipts for money orders to his son overseas also a notarized letter from mother. He has to proof good moral as parent for all kids. We didn't know enough about this

Sorry for the later response. Any amount of kids you put in the paperwork under 18 they need proof of support even if the child was born outside the US and remain there.....In my case both my kids was under 18...one was born in the US, and the other never travel to the US. Getting the bank statement for the one in the US was easy because..even though I wasn't on child support I could still show support by bank statement. My problem was with the other child in Ja. I have to contact western union and they drag there feet a little. Contact the mother who lives in England, get a notarized letter from both mom saying i'm not on child support,,,,Then write a letter of explanation that other source of my support to jamaica comes from packing food supply (barrel), school supply and in most case taking clothing, shoes and more when traveling back and forth. I think they only given me one month to come up with all of this which two weeks was lost with WU. I hope this is enough explanation and help....I think my case was unique to Visa Journey because I could find anyone with the same case like mine, I don't think this apply to women, Do take this serious because I another country man I was looking to for help was in the same situation and they rejected his paper work.

P.S proof of support going back to 5yrs to the day you file.

Good luck to you.

I am curious. What does child support have to do with applying for citizenship? I didn't seen any requirement around that.

If you're a guy filling and don't know about this before filing..you will surprise with only 1 month to come up with what they want from you,

The kids in question are my step daughters- my wife's children. She has custody. The biological father does not support them.

So I don't see how child support would be an issue for us. My biological children are 21 and 24 so are not a factor in this.

We have been thru the K-1, AOS, and ROC without this being an issue. My wife and girls have their 10 year GCs.

Will we have any issues with support?

No because your kids over 18yrs.

No because he is a USC. Only people trying to naturalize may have an issue with unpaid child support.
