For those who have had successful interviews...

Can I ask what the dress code is? We finally have our interview on 7/23 in Frankfurt. Both a suit and jeans and a t shirt seem inappropriate. Business causal? What is the most appropriate thing to wear that doesnt make it look like were trying too hard, but also not too cocky?

I know it might seem dumb, but if there is anything I can do or be in control of I want to be.

Business casual is good. Don't dress sloppy, and don't dress like you're going to a funeral.

Wear something you feel comfortable in. I saw lots of people at the Frankfurt interview in jeans and a normal shirt. Personally, I wore nice dark grey slacks and a Norwegian pullover (the interview being in November).

Business casual is the way to go I'd think. I wore a Skirt with a beige shirt and a blazer. Nothing too fancy. I saw some people showing up in Jeans and t-shirts. You could get away with jeans and nice shirt too I guess.

(If you go with pale pants, make sure there is no stains on it.. My Fiance went with me and never checked his pants, so he had dark lines all along his butt and legs )

Good to know. He is an illustrator, I am a materials scientist, so jeans are pretty much our uniforms. As it will be over 30C I was thinking that jeans and a nice summer weight button down for him, and a nice summer dress for me. Put together, but without having to go buy clothing for the interview.

Some places say yes, others say no. For me, Im going either way, even if I sit outside, as moral support, but Im just curious if I should even expect to be allowed in.

Hand your U.S. passport to him to show the consul, and you very well might be invited in. This is the best way to score points, too.

I did not have my now-husband with me, but I did meet multiple couples at the interview who were there together. They were all doing DCF and spousal visas, though. For the K1, I am not 100% sure. I would just shoot them an e-mail and ask.

In my K-1 interview letter it said they had limited space in the Frankfurt consulate, therefore only your USC fiancé is allowed in. Funny, it is a huge hall like at a train station ... plenty of space ...

I stood in front of a window with the vice consul, so she could only see a very small part of me, certainly not what pants I wore.

The interview was 2 minutes, 3 questions. I don't think they care in the least if your fiancé attends. You can hold hands while you sit (took only 5 minutes waiting time for me), but you walk up to the window alone, I guess.

Does not matter whats your clothing just smell fresh, body covered & one is groomed

males ....nice shirt with decent Jeans pants or pants & shirt (coordinated casual)

Ladies ....a nice pair of slacks, proper Jeans (no cut outs) or skirt

mice blouse wirh slacks, Jeans with button down shirt, skirt set

and nice pair of sandals (no tongs) or dress shoes

The main thing is to have all docs , a great attitude, a smile & be honest

May varies if u are to dress formal or not. I went casual and conservative in polo T shirt, jeans and close toe shoes. Saw others like they were going in a date night or modeling audition.
