Awesome! I haven't heard anything in repsonse to my email request yet, we will see.

They seem pretty backlogged at the moment.

Good luck with the interview!

When creating an account on ustraveldocs.com/de to pay the visa fee... Is the K1 an immigrant or non-immigrant visa?

It always changes depending on what we're doing - very confusing!

On my profile it is shown as immigrant visa so this seems to be the option you have to tick :) But you are right, it is confusing when at times it is referred to as this and other times as the other!

Cool - seems they are severely backlogged. I haven't heard anything, but I guess they will get to me eventually.

@Rachelhperry4: On US-traveldocs you'll have to use the immigrant category even though K1 is a non-immigrant visa. I know, it makes no sense...:)

Rike&Brandon, might it help to contact UStraveldocs regarding the status of your visa? Maybe they have information as to how long this problem will last. I am about to send them a message because I am unable to change my DS-160 confirmation number on my profile. I had to make a change in my DS-160 and then got a new confirmation number that I just wanted to update but I am getting an error message each time.

I will have my interview next week Tuesday, while I am super excited that it is finally happening, I also feel a little discouraged due to the recent technical issue :clock:

Hi KittyKahlohr, at least waiting times for interviews seem to be back to normal now - I had to wait two weeks for an appointment.

I did write to the embassy last week and got a standard reply saying they had technical issues. I did not want to write again too soon, but I think I'll email them again today or tomorrow. Technically I'm still in the two week range (they normally tell people it will take 1-2 weeks to receive the visa), since my interview was Thursday the 9th. To me they said that the visa would most probably be printed the same or next day. This is something that really puzzles me - if some people here (like Tiberius) are waiting for visas since 5 weeks, then why did they not tell me that they had technical problems?

I'm interested what they will tell you - and maybe we also hear back from the people who have interviews in Frankfurt tomorrow.

That's true. In case you have not heard anything until Tuesday and there are no news of other people either I might specifically ask about this problem and see what information they give.

Funnily I just logged onto ustraveldocs and all the information is gone from my account. My passport information and my interview appointment is still listed, but on the front page the visa category, fee payment etc. are now all empty. Since my interview it also said "your passport is still with the US embassy" under "delivery information" - this is now empty too.

I just wrote another email to the embassy asking what that means and if I need to submit a new DS-160. I hardly dare to hope that it means that my visa is finally being issued, I think in this case it would say that the passport is on the way and not just a blanc.

Huh! This sounds like something is moving, let's hope that it moves in a positive direction! During the past weeks I have also did a lot of interpretation regarding my CEAC status after the last upated date randomly changed and I would each time hope that it means that they are looking at my documents or something. However, I still have no idea why and when this date is updated :D

Exactly. Just a bad photocopy of a form that looks very home-made.

Mine was a bit weird: Hildesheim - Barcelona - Hildesheim - El Paso - Hildesheim - Frankfurt

Due to my several exchange semesters.

I put month and year and had to add a number of lines (there were only 6 or so on the document).

WHat do you do if you have lived in some countries for under 6 months?

Do you leave that period blank?

In most cases on US Visa forms timeline blanks are not allowed right?

What if you lived in some countries multiple times?

My Example: Germany (17 years)-USA (11months)-Germany (2 years)- USA(7months)-Netherlands (12 months)-Mexico (5months)- Netherlands (6months)- UK (5 months) etc....

And they do this list to judge where all you need police certificates from right?

And as long as you have not lived in a foriegn country for more than 1 year a police certificate is not required, correct?

01/2001-12/2001 Frankfurt, Germany

02/2002-09/2002 Porto, Portugal

01/2003-04/2010 Frankfurt Germany

(I listed Hildesheim 3 times, since I studied there, went abroad, returned, went abroad, returned, ...)

If they ask for "more than 6 months" I would only give them more than 6 months - that's probably to rule out listing vacations. No idea, what it's for, since the police certificate is only required for 12 months and more.

Also can I ask you another question?

The medical only requires German sized passport pictures? Is that correct?

I read it somewhere in this threat as well...just want to confirm.

Yes, that's right! When I booked the medical appointment the lady was specifically pointing it out to me as well. It just causes confusion for everyone cause the embassy asks for an American size picture :sleepy:
