U.S. Taxpayer spend $3.5 million to find out why lesbians are fat

A U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) study to understand why lesbians are fat has now cost taxpayers over $3.5 million to-date.

The study, Sexual Orientation and Obesity: A Test of a Gendered Biopsychosocial Model, seeks to determine why there is a disparity in the obesity rates between straight women and lesbian women and straight men and gay men.

According to the study, It is now well-established that women of minority sexual orientation are disproportionately affected by the obesity epidemic, with nearly three-quarters of adult lesbians overweight or obese, compared to half of heterosexual women. In stark contrast, among men, heterosexual males have nearly double the risk of obesity compared to gay males.

Apparently, these disparities are of high public-health significance, therefore, the National Institutes of Health has been continuously funding the project.

Since CNSNews.com first discovered the governments funding of the study in 2013, the cost to taxpayers has increased from approximately $1.5 million to over $3.5 million.

A website with information pertaining to the project claims the study will continue until June 30, 2016.

The focus of this study is not, in fact, on lesbians. The focus of this study, as stated in the name and aim of the study even in that article, is to see why there is a disparity between sexualities and genders in obesity rates. In other words, it's looking at lifestyle and biological differences between several demographics (straight men, gay men, straight women, lesbian women) to see what the contributing factors are. This will actually be useful to ALL demographics on the basis that, when we find out why group X is generally fatter than group Y, we can help people from group X to avoid those pitfalls and we can help the fat people in group Y to find out what they can do to also avoid those pitfalls. Everyone benefits and it helps for things like avoiding insurance rates spiking even more as obesity rates rise.

The conservative media only reported it as 'study to find out why lesbians are fat!' to cause outrage and bring people's minds back to the stereotype of the 'fat angry #######' where ####### refers to a lesbian. It's literally an attempt to make the people doing this study look bad by proximity to a bad stereotype.

And VOL, you'd never guess it, but there are no fat lesbians in my household. The only fatty is my cat and he's on a weight loss plan. So I guess you won't be able to come here for your fat lesbian fix after all. Drat.

I'm too white for that and I'm from a liberal nation where women are too domineering and dominant for his liking. Too white for VOL, what a shame. Though, maybe not for long. I pass really well for white unless I tan and uh, Texas is not doing wonders for the pasty complexion I've worked on for years. I'm going to have to buy new makeup--my foundation is now at least three colours too light and if I turn the same colour as my feet (I have terrible tan lines from my sandals, oh man--my feet seem to get the lion's share of the sun for some reason) then there's going to be no missing the fact that I'm not actually white. I'm just waiting for people to start speaking spanish to me.
