Happy Monday! to everyone,

Does anyone know how long the NVC notify you in advance for the interview? I have been trying to get the phone line since some time last week, to no avail.

Thanks ItsGonnaBeWorthIt for your prompt reply. I've been calling the 603-334-0700 number several times even after I read your reply, to no avail. A pre-recorded message keeps saying that their agents are busy now with other customers and advising me to call later. It doesn't even give me the option to press "1" or go to the next step. I have emailed the NVC contact on their website twice, no reply yet. I am telling you, this is FRUSTRATING. I keep checking my status online and checking my inbox several times a day just incase they update me with the case status,NADA. As you mentioned other options, I'll email the US consulate ASAP. I hope if they don't correct things now, they will for future applicants.

oh yea it takes about 20 tries to even get through. you have to keep hitting redial but its worth it because with the new system the wait isn't long anymore. one time It took me 50 tires.. yea I know crazy.. so keep trying and redialing and once you hear a ring then you know it went through. if you hear the guy voice first then just hang up until you hear it ring. and yes the process is so much frustrating I was so tempted just to move to Ethiopia. how would that work no idea! but it gets tiring. and please do try to email the embassy im not sure if anything they can do but at least if we all do it it will alert them that something is up and we been waiting a long time for interview. and yes I just want whatever happened corrected so everyone can have interviews in a timely manner.

I found it was pointless to call NVC for updates. The only thing they will tell you is that your case has been forwarded to the US Embassy in Addis Ababa. You can try a congressional, but that may or may not have a better result. For Lidiya and me, it took approx 3 months from when we were notified our case had been sent until we got the interview date. Then it was nearly 2 months until the actual interview. Lidiya will be here on September 15. (Delay is due to the new year for family and the extra time to prepare berbere and shiro due to the rain)

Still unable to contact NVC via phone, but sent queries on their website. I sent email to US consulate as well. I'll keep you guys posted if there is any development. I got a question though regarding the NVC online case status. On my online case status, the current processing site says "NVC". Does it mean it doesn't left NVC after the case has been approved or is it going to change once the case is scheduled for interview?

Thanks for your replies,

hey mehari this should help you. even if an interview is set it may still say AT NVC until it either says IN TRANSIT or READY.

STATUS Explanation On CEAC.GOV.

"IN TRANSIT" means that NVC has entered your packet into the DHL system. Your status will stay "IN TRANSIT" while your packet is still physically at NVC, even though it has been entered into the DHL system (sometimes 24-48 hours), and during the time your packet is moving through the DHL system.

Your status will not turn to "READY" until the Embassy/Consulate has received your packet from DHL and physically scanned it into THEIR system. So...your packet could physically be at the Embassy/Consulate's mail site (often the mail site is a different building from the actual Embassy), and DHL could say the packet has been delivered, but until the Embassy/Consulate logs it in, it will still be "IN TRANSIT".

The case officers/consulate officers at the Embassy/Consulate will not know anything about your packet until your status changes to "READY". That is why, if you are trying to shift your interview date, you must not contact your Embassy/Consulate until the status is "READY". Until them, you are not in their system and they cannot "see" you.

In some Embassy/Consulates, there is a lag time between the interview approval and the time the visa foil (the page that is glued into your passport) is printed. During this time, your status is "ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING". Until the visa foil is physically printed and glued into your passport, you will not see "ISSUED".

hey guys im not sure if your aware of it but all the I864 AOS forms have updated and must be used as of October . so if our interviews are in October I would update your AOS before interview. the old forms had 3/31/2015 expire date and the new ones should have 7/31/2017.

I emailed the US embassy in Addis about the interview, no reply yet. I called NVC about the status, they said that they will let me know when they hear from the US embassy in Addis and there is no time frame for that. RIDICULOUS!!!
