Hello!

I want some advice and guidance regarding the RFE I got today.

Originally when I sent my petition, I sent so much stuff. Photos, passport copies of my stamped visit to Lebanon, copies of my airline tickets,

affidavits, letter of intent, emails, whatsapp messages. I did mention that we met on social media. I didn't mention the site.

My RFE is 2 pages.....

On the 1st page It basically states that we should establish that we met in person in the last 2 years. It also says "You submitted photos showing you and the beneficiary were together. However, the photographs are insufficient as proof of the two year "meeting in person" requirement proceeding the filing on your form blah blah."

Then it states to submit evidence of meeting the beneficiary in person within the 2 year period.

Page 2, Circumstances of Meeting

It says that I did indicate we met through a website online, however I did not provide any specific details about this website and circumstances under which we met to establish the relationship.

THEN.....under that has IMB

"It is not known if you met the beneficiary through an IMB. As such, please submit evidence that you did not meet the beneficiary through an IMB service. blah blah"

So..... I was going to write a statement indicating that we met on Instagram, and how we started to follow each other, and how that lead to whatsapp messages, and give them details on that. I was also going to attach copies of my boarding passes from my recent trip along with my trip the previous time, and copies of my passport stamps.

I just didn't know how am I suppose to prove we did NOT met through an IMB service.

Any suggestions or advice!?

Supplying the information about the website (Instragram) you met through is what is needed. "We first met on Instagram when I/he started following him/me on Month Day, Year.

Boarding passes, passport stamps, and any other receipts (hotel, restaurant, etc. in his country/city) from the time of meeting face to face are good proof/evidence.

Were your visits to Lebanon within the last 2 years? You say that you sent in passport stamps and airline tickets - do you also have any boarding passes? Receipts from when you were there? If you have receipts from something you did together, try and match it with a photo that you may have taken at the same time.

Yes I visited 2 times in the last 6 months! I do have boarding passes from latest trip.

The previous trip, I just noticed I had boarding pass for my trip back to the U.S. not going. I think I will try getting a copy or something from the airline.

And copy my passport stamps.

Thanks!!!

I don't know if it helps, but since we had visited each other several times (on both new and old passports) I made full copies of each passport, then put a sticky note on the section of the particular page of the stamps in question nudging the case worker that these were the stamps for the visit. How visible are the stamps on the passport? Sometimes they can be faded and hard to make out. Resend in copies of the boarding passes including return trip. Do you have any receipts showing you two were at the same place at the same time? Perhaps any ATM transactions? Hotels? Places to eat showing two meals?

They would have had to, they sent pictures of them together.

I used flight itineraries because they were easier to get, plus whatever boarding passes I could find that I didn't lose in airports. That was enough in our case.

I don't know if this is applicable to USC, but as the foreign beneficiary, in addition to the boarding passes, passport stamps, and airline tickets, I printed a copy of my entry and exit record that you can get online from the CBP website, using your passport details, and added it as proof of having met in the last 2 years.

I am confused as to why babybabeto14 got an RFE if a passport, copies of airline tickets, etc. were submitted with the original petition.

I'm not sure, only thing I can say is that either they didn't look closer, or they lost it. We sent them a big a envelope.

I wrote them a statement, giving them the details they asked for on how we met, and how we started talking, I copied my entire passport and my latest airline tickets and credit card receipts and I mentioned in my letter I had originally sent all this stuff initially.

So I dunno we will see what happens.

Fingers crossed.

It is entirely possible, however stupid it may be, that they overlooked, misplaced, or flat out lost the documents that were sent.

Always the descretion of the person going through the application.

I sent in a couple of pictures of us, one from christmas, one at my aunts house for my mom's 60th b-day, then a couple of boarding passes. Then in the explanation of meeting, I simply said we met online in 2010 then listed every time he's came here and stayed with me.

Other people have gotten RFE's from saying "Met online in <BLANK>" or "Met online on social media in <BLANK>", other's haven't.

Seems pretty hit or miss. I was prepared for an RFE, but never got it lol.

I met my fiancee when she was visiting the U.S. I didn't send a copy of her entire passport or her airline ticket because I figured USCIS could/would look up her entry and exit records themselves...was that a bad assumption?

Unfortunately you should not assume anything regarding the USCIS. The burden of proof is on the petitioner to send in what evidence they can provide. Did you provide any other proof of meeting within two years? If you receive an RFE, at least you have some evidence you can send.

Checking out the guides here really help describe what you should send in with your application for proof.
