NVC Unavailable?

Hi everyone

So I just tried calling NVC to inquire about our case and the automated message reported that NVC inquiries for immigrant visas are unavailabe from July 2nd (today at 3:30 pm) until 7:30am Monday July 6 because of technical difficulties in their system??

Anybody have an information on this? Because I thought the month-long technical problems were pretty much taken care of at the end of last week (that's what a supervisor told me on the phone). Is this a new wave of system issues or what?

Ugh what an absolute HORRIBLE time to be stuck at the NVC :crying::clock:

I just called NVC and the message they have about being off-line has to do with the DS-261, DS-260 and IV fees technical problems. The issue that was resolved last week was with the technical difficulties relating to homeland security checks/visa printing at the various Posts worldwide.

The problem at CEAC with DS-261, DS-260 and IV fees was never resolved but it seems they are finally going to work on it this weekend.

Everyone should take heart!

Finally!

Btw, why did you say the problem at CEAC is finally being fixed this weekend? Did NVC tell you on the phone?

We've been stuck at DS-260 for over two months... :( Really depressing...

HI Flora - well I said that they are going to work on it....who knows if it will be fixed! LOL!

call the NVC number and y0u will hear the message yourself. (603-334- 0700).

Essentially it says that if you have had difficulties accessing DS-261, DS-260 and paying IV fees online you can visit nvc.state.gov/solutions for instructions. It says that as part of the "solutions" the NVC database will be taken off-line for 3pm today til 7am on Monday

(please note: there are 2 different messages that come up when you call NVC. One is more detailed than the other but they are saying the same thing).

The funny thing is I called the NVC this morning and the agent still told me "We don't know when this is going to be fixed." She should listen to the NVC's answering machine message!

I am just glad to see some kind of action being taken to solve this problem, instead of the "we don't know what's going on" routine that they've been doing the past few weeks. I hope they fix the system. Just knowing that something is being done is mellowing me out a little.

it seems it's really affecting SOME people, not ALL.
i just went through some (similar) timelines of applicants from my country (HK)
some hv their interviews scheduled, some even got approved already.
Guess we just got very unlucky somehow...

Ugh what an absolute HORRIBLE time to be stuck at the NVC :crying::clock:

I really hope they resolve your issue soon! I know the process is longer for CR visas, but your wait time is very, very long!

I also hope that the embassy schedules your interview sooner than they did with our case. They seemed to take a long time scheduling ours, so hopefully that won't add more time to your wait!

Signature coming soon...

NVC Database Temporarily Offline for Computer System Update

7/2/2015

The Bureau of Consular Affairs is still resolving technical problems with some of our online immigrant visa forms. This issue is not specific to any particular country or visa category. As part of the solution to these systems issues, the National Visa Center (NVC) will temporarily take its immigrant visa database offline to allow our technical specialists to work on the system.

We will take our database offline at 3:30 pm on Thursday, July 2 through Sunday, July 5. Please note the NVC will be closed on Friday, July 3 for the Independence Day holiday.

What does this mean for immigrant visa applicants? Beginning at 3:30 pm on Thursday, July 2, NVC staff will be unable to access any case-specific information in the database. While our Public Inquiry phone line will still be operating, our Customer Service Representatives will be unable to provide callers with information specific to their case, such as whether we have received your case from USCIS, if we received mail from you, and your case status. We will be unable to make changes or updates to your case, such as a change of address.

We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. However, the Department of States technical team is confident that this temporary inconvenience is a necessary step toward restoring full functionality to our systems. We expect the NVCs immigrant visa database to again be operational on Monday, July 6 and our Customer Service Representatives will be able to fully answer public inquiries then.

Applicants who have had difficulty accessing Form DS-261 Choice of Address and Agent and Form DS-260 Immigrant Visa Application online, or paying their visa fees online should continue to monitor this website for updates and follow the instructions below. Again, we thank you for your continued patience and apologize to applicants who are experiencing delays.

This is what they have updated today.....So check from Monday...I think every thing should be fine by next week

Thank you everyone for the replies and info.

I just called NVC again and talked to a representative this time and before even letting you ask any questions they tell you that they will not be able to view any information on their system at all until late Monday.

This is just absolutely ridiculous.

All of us who are/have been stuck at this stage should have priority over any incoming cases so we can get on with our lives already :protest:
