I agree with other posters. Manila embassy is fairly easy for interviews. As long as you have all paperwork needed and can answer simple questions right away you will be fine. No need for your fiancee to attend. I did not attend my wife interview

She told me the interview was easy and the officers there were very nice

Why is Manilla so easy? I notice quite a few women from their marrying USCs who are old enough to be their fathers. The worst case I have seen the woman was 22 and the guy was 50. In some of these cases it was so obvious to me that the woman was only with the guy because he was American and had money but these cases still get visas. They have fraud written all over them. Actual couples have so much more trouble. It makes me so mad

How do you know it is fraud? Did the american tell you he has lots of money? You are basing your opionion only on the age diffrence. Maybe the girl really does make the guy happy. Maybe they really are in love

is it same age same religion same race. What kind of problems do actual couples have?

Proceedings at the Manila embassy typically have nothing to do with what goes on at any other embassy or consulate.

In general, and particularly at tough or hellhole consulates, if the USC is on the consular premises during the interview, it can make a big difference. In comparison to other locales, especially in poorer countries, it often seems that the Manila embassy hands out visas like candy.

Because the beneficiary would hand over the USC's passport and obviously say : My fiance/spouse is waiting outside and would love to

attend the interview if permitted.

Then, if there is an issue, the USC can immediately start to troubleshoot.

This is embassy specific and for most couples going through Manila not necessary unless there are red flags.

Some embassies request for the USC to be present.

In a nutshell, one size doesn't fit all.

My wife is 14 years younger than I. She wanted ME to move to HER country, since she had the well paying job. I was the very poor one, which I made clear to her from the beginning. She gave up her dream career, financial security, large land holdings, and even a chauffeur to be with me. And the age difference between her father and mother (both Filipinos) was 20 years difference. You cant generalize about things like that and expect to be correct.

icechamp, the Marcos regime 20-30 years ago decided to "export labor" to bring money into the Philippines.. As a result, Filipinas get the impression that there is plenty of money floating around the globe.. Not just U.S., in fact, I think the Aussies may take more Filipina brides than U.S.

Further, part of the culture often has daughters almost serving their male siblings, as young Filipinos are sometimes honored and preferred in adolescence. If I were a Filipina and had to wait on my brother, I may also prefer an older gentleman who has "made it" in life. At least she might have a sense of knowing the older gentleman isn't a spoiled brat like the young guys all around her.
