Working for Canadian employer while waiting for AOS

Grey area. If it's remote work for a Canadian company, being paid CAD into a Canadian account, and your company has no US offices, you are probably okay. You are not going to get any concrete answer out of anyone, IMO, because the idea of "remote working" is newer than the rules. You can do it, if you are comfortable. Your choice.

You can't leave the US without AP or greencard (well you can, you just won't be let back in and will have to start over with a spousal visa). You apply for your EAD and AP when you file your AOS. EAD and AP can take up to 90 days to get (for a while the majority were taking 75 days and now it's all over the place and now some of us taking almost 90, womp womp, so plan for 90). AOS is dependent on how busy your local office is or if you get an NPIW, so around 5 months to a year for a GC.

In your case, you really should only keep working there if you are confident you will not have to go into the Canadian office while you are waiting for your AP.

This is great news and good information CAMama3! Thank you! How long was it for you to receive your AP from the day you applied?

86 days, EAD and AP are approved at the same time and you get a combo card. It can take a couple of weeks to get the actual card though, so even more time to tack on, fyi.
