Plus the medical exam can be gotten the next day vs 3 days later in Montreal.

99% of people would go for Van...has 99% of the time it is much faster than Mtl....and prob cheaper air fare

Plus the medical exam can be gotten the next day vs 3 days later in Montreal.

Thanks guys for the input, we are gonna call NVC first thing Monday morning and hope they can switch it and send our case to Vancouver from there, since it hasn't left NVC as far as I know. Fingers crossed

Hi again, I just called NVC and the guy said Montreal is the only place where the visas are processed (wrong). Kept going back and forth with him and he wouldn't change his mind. How can he not know? I trust VJ more than these people... Haha. What can I do now? Call again later and hope for a smarter person?

Thanks, may call back right now. He kept saying "Montreal is the only place where immigrant visas are processed." I know K1s are technically nonimmigrant visas, although I said to him 'K1'... Would that make a difference talking to these people?

if it does get sent to Mtl..u will still be able to email them...explain ur case and hopefully get it tx'd to van

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Thanks! I haven't been able to get through and I'm working for the day. will try to get through to NVC tonight. I just figure it's probably much easier at this stage to switch!

WELL consider me officially MAD. I finally got through NVC tonight, they already sent my petition to Montreal today. Of course the guy I talked to this morning is a total idiot and could've changed it if he had known what was going on, the lady on the phone tonight said she could have easily switched but they of course sent it out during the day. Now I have to wait until Montreal eventually gets to my case and switch to Vancouver. or not. I don't know what to do now. So frustrated. I don't want to waste anymore time or slow the process down...

On the plus side, at least I can stop listening to NVC's hold music. haha.

As I said before, this used to happen a fair bit in the past....and Mtl was always happy to tx it to Van...weird on how that 1 case here on VJ they would not..... Sorry for all the hassles, hopefully Mtl will have better news for u..

Im from Saskatchewan too! My case was ALSO directed to Montreal and is enroute now....least its moving, but I wonder maybe if they send your cases at times based on what side of the US you will be living in. Frustrating but least its on its way...its been a very long journey.

Met online in jan 2013 became exclusive Feb1

Met in person Sept/ Engaged in Oct 2013 never wanted to leave each other.

Returned to visit July 31 2014 till Oct 2014

started our K1 VISA process...October 2014

K1 noa1 Oct 6 Texas.....now the wait begins...to start our journey together.

NOA2 email notice Approval May 14/2015 yay!

interview oct 28th 2015!

VISA APPROVED!

I'm interested in how this all turned out for you guys... My fiance is in Prince Albert and we just got our NOA2 yesterday... Any updates?

Looking at their timelines, they both ended up interviewing through Montreal.

Met: December 2009

Married: April 2015

Received CR-1 visa: February 2017

POE (as IR-1): April 2017

Oath ceremony: November 2020
