Hi fellas!

So I have been in US for 3 years in September w k1 visa. Left a daughter in Phippines knowing everything w her petition will go smoothly like mine was. Husband petitioned her a year after I got here and it got denied same year. A year later which was 2014 petitioned her again w atty involved this time and DNA. After 4 mos petition got approved. Thank god and to my family and husband who is always there for me.

Question is: I know I have an atty helping us but Im just wondering if there is any way it could speed up her next process? My atty said we need to wait for NVC letter. They will give is the quote of how much we need to pay for affidavit of support and etc. the USCIS will then give my daughther an interview. On my case w my finacee visa my husband called NvC to get the MNL number to set up an interview ahead instead of waiting for their mail. As Philippine mailing system can't be trusted. Anyway, who ever filed I-130 for their family or kids w I-130 please enlight me.

PS. The petition is I-130 for stepdaughter petition. My daughter is not from my husband.

Immigrant visa application is different from K1. You have to go thru the normal NVC process like everyone else unless you have sufficient ground for expedite. Your lawyer should be able to explain that further to you and your husband.

Congrats on the i130 approval.

And don't worry, NVC corresponds strictly via EMAIL so you won't be dealing with the Philippine post office.

Once its in the NVC, pay all the fees and send the required documents (Others did it before the completed the process). Then, send an email (NVCexpedite@state.gov) to request for an expedite. Upon receipt by NVC, they will reply acknowledging it and will forward your request to USEM Manila which have the authority to decide on it. You will receive a reply (email) a week after informing you of USEM's decision. Goodluck!

PS>>> I sent a letter for my son's case on May 26, received reply May 29 (forwarded to Manila) and finally approval notice (email) on June 4.

Thank you guys! Yes my atty told me to wait for NVC email. Just trying to see if it can go faster (the process) I would love to buy the ticket because I can get a good deal. I found a round trip for me for $953 round trip to Philippines. And about $670 for my daughter one way. She will be 8 in August. Just wanting to save a little bit of money for the ticket since this process is costing us a lot.

It's for October by the way. Is when Im planning to get her but my atty told me we have no control of the situation. So he is not agreeing for me to buy the ticket yet

Absolutely do NOT buy any airfare at this time, still lots to do at NVC. Then NVC will set up the interview at USEM, so be patient.

You can give it a try like I did. I petitioned my son January 29 and since the request to expedite was approved, his case was transferred to USEM (its already there) and his interview will be on June 29.

Here's some part of the email:

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry regarding the immigrant visa petition: MNL2015XXXXX filed by AUREA XXXXXXX on behalf of ERNEST XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General has accepted this case for expedited processing. This file will be immediately forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General. Any further questions concerning processing or the interview appointment date should be directed to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General.

Please note that the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General may still request additional forms or fees at the time of your interview. Please be prepared to submit any missing forms and pay any required fees at the time of your interview.

Thank you! So who needs to request for expediting? Us or our atty? Did you have to tell them a reason for expediting?

When did your petition get approved? How old is your son Aurie?

I did it myself. We didnt hire a lawyer, although we did for my first son (F2A) which was also expedited (Lawyer did it). There's a format and you have to state the reason why.

Petitioner:

Beneficiary Name:

DOB:

Case Number:

Invoice Number:

(then the context of your letter)

Note: You have to provide 2 local phone numbers of your beneficiary

email this to NVCexpedite@state.gov

He's turning 21 this November. But he is under IR-2 category so the age really dont matter.

The Embassy states in the "Embassy Letter" Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you.

That's a pretty strong warning. "Your mileage may differ"

Good Luck.
