Thanks for all the information.. Appreciated.. :)

My ss card has my married name on it... I just can't understand why every time I provide or entered my SS # (for example, to subscribe in Xfinity (internet provider)) I always got an "invalid SS #" message.. :(

That's why I came up posting a topic here in VJ,

I think I might need to go back to SS office to remove the restrictions on my SS card...

Entering with or without dashes?

Makes no matter about the statement on there regarding Homeland Security... for sure not with Comcast.

Like Hank said you maybe entering you SSN wrong. It can be entered as XXXXXXXXX or XXX-XX-XXXX. Those are the normal ways of entering. Removing the statement from you SSN card will have no baring on the entry at any website or the validity of you SSN. If you try using your SSN somewhere else at you feel your having the same problem then contacting SS would be a good idea.

My wife had no issues with bank accounts or employment, and the DHS authorization statement was on her SS card. There has to be a problem elsewhere, maybe your name is not matching... typo in there system.

Hi, I just saw this thread and it's timely 'coz I just went this morning at the SSA office to update my card. It's a good thing though because the girl who assisted me told me that I will get my new SS card (but still same SS #) without the restrictions (valid for work only with DHS Authorization) between 2-4 weeks since I just received my GC last June 2. The girl actually told me too that there's a typo error on my name too on their system so she approached the Manager and they arranged it and said they will report it to USCIS as well. :)
