60 companies have left California and moved to Texas thanks to Rick Perry....

So he's good at getting jobs from one part of America to another part. What are his stats on getting Americans jobs WITHOUT taking them from other Americans? Has he had any success with getting jobs back from overseas? That would be MUCH more impressive than just moving stuff from one state to another and would actually be applicable to the presidency. Being able to focus on a special interest is something ANY politician can do and that's usually all they do.

So far, what I'm seeing doesn't look good...

May 25, 2013, he vetoed a bill that would require state agencies to promote and give preference to goods manufactured in Texas. That sure doesn't look good when it comes to him encouraging American manufacturing jobs.

He also made an awful lot of executive vetoes of bills passed by elected officials...

Ooooh and where he really crashes? While yes, he did manage to keep Texas having only the 24th highest unemployment rate in the US, he also massively increased the number of workers making only minimum wage. In 2008 it was less than 5% and by 2010 it had nearly doubled to 9.5%.

LOL, Rick Perry hasn't got a chance. I say that sincerely. Maybe he's liked by some people, but to the rest of the world he's seen as a rather buffoonish individual with possibly a drinking problem. There's skeletons in his closet aplenty, tons of rumours to use against him that have been circulating for years. Nor is he moderate enough in views to appeal to voters. GOP needs some serious contenders if they want to get in. I wish non-serious people would stop running for office on both sides.

Well, I honestly can't think of a single Republican candidate whose actual worth for individuals (as opposed to corporations) doesn't have the bottom fall out like a wet paper bag with a gallon of milk inside.

Though, to be honest, the ability of Democratic candidates to do otherwise is in jeopardy thanks to Citizens United.

The whole two party thing just makes zero sense to me at all and the electoral college system is downright stupid.

Earlier today, as part of his commitment to job creation for comedy writers, Rick Perry announced that he will run for president.

His platform is exactly what you'd expect—lower taxes, stronger military, small government. Don't even bother learning about his political positions, because he won't be around long enough for them to matter.

Instead, merely expect Rick Perry to amuse and delight us over the next few weeks, maybe months if he's lucky. Four years ago, his campaign was a nonstop parade of bumbles. He called Social Security "a Ponzi scheme"—to the surprise of many elderly voters.

He forgot when election day is. He accused the leaders of Turkey of being "Islamic terrorists," which came as a surprise to everyone, particularly Turkey, a secular democracy fighting Islamic terrorists alongside NATO and the State Department.

The Turkey gaffe might be my favorite. Perry said that the U.S. could cut off aid to the country, to which the Turkish ambassador responded that the country doesn't need U.S. aidand has in fact created a lot of jobs in Texas.

No no no, wait, I take it back, my favorite one is when he said "I don't know how you would do this, but if you could take Herman Cain and mate him up with Newt Gingrich, I think you would have a couple of really interesting guys to work with." Fantastic plan, Rick! (This curious understanding of mating could explain why he got an F in organic chemistry.)

If we're lucky, before going out in a ball of flame Rick will land at least a few potshots at the other clowns running, and he'll also give his fellow idiots something to talk about. (Glen Beck recently claimed that Rick Perry ended the 2011 Texas drought by signing a prayer proclamation. I seriously do not understand how these people think God works.)

Hopefully Rick's presidential campaign won't be too distracted by his other full-time hobby, responding to felony abuse-of-power allegations and posing for mug-shots.And who's paying for his expensive lawyering? Why, his own campaign is, of course. As Fox News reported in January, so far the Perry campaign has shelled out more than $1 million to defend him.

Of course, no one can forget the "oops" moment four years ago, when he couldn't remember "his" own platform. But have you seen this delightful appearance from 2011? It starts with him yelling, "today has been awesome, girl!" He goes on to sway and bob his head manically, ramble, giggle, and look happier than any human has ever been to receive a bottle of maple syrup.

It's why folks can't focus on what's really important. Now a days, it's all about one of the parties rather than voting for the best candidate who wants to help the people and get the job done...

Yeah. It's a system that doesn't make sense. In Canada, because we're not hyperfocussed on two parties, we've seen other parties come up and down and merge in order to create new possibilities. For example, the NDP is currently seeing itself rise because the Liberals and Conservatives can't make anything work and the NDP seems mostly focussed on PEOPLE and not corporations. But I've seen other parties disappear altogether in my lifetime and some parties blend and so on.
