now that I'm a USC, can i still vote for presidency in the philippines? i want to vote mayor duterte, man with an iron fist.. i watched his commercial that looked like a political campaign and I'm in for his platforms

As a US Citizen, you legally relinquished your PHL Citizenship and thus, cannot vote. If you do want to vote in case Duterte does run, you might want to get started on Dual Citizenship. That's the only way you will be able to vote in 2016.

As an aside, there will be no way that Duterte will win in 2016. Just my opinion. The corrupt politician class won't allow it to happen.

You need to go to a Philippines consulate and apply for dual citizenship. They will also register you as on overseas voter.

However, I'm not sure if you can vote for local elections (like for city mayor, provincial governor, etc...) at the consulate. Please check on this.

I was in Davao in November and saw a few signs and posters up where the people were encouraging him to run for President.

I hope he stays in Davao and doesn't run, He runs that city with an Iron Fist...

Over and above the actual filing / petitioning for naturalization / citizenship does the beneficiary sign a document relinquishing previous country citizenship? If so then how does the dual citizenship status work?

Just curious even though many years down the road.

That's why I hope he runs, that family runs Davao with an Iron Fist but it is safe.All the while in the rest of the Philippines criminals run rampant with almost impunity. I absolutely love Davao and I can't wait to go back next week. I like his idea of Federalism for the Philippines, I think it's sad that everything there is so Manila-centric while the provinces especially Mindanao gets left behind in the dust.

I saw him on a tv show a couple years back when he was Vice-Mayor about him talking about renewable energy and how they could a landfill project that would actually help power Davao. He is a very knowledgeable and smart man, and does not take hypocrisy or bs to well.
