But Waco is not Baltimore in terms of the chaos and pain it's people are going through on a daily basis. It's people have a giant ax to grind. I don't see the same thing going on there. The gang tiff in Waco resulted in many dead at one setting. Violence in Baltimore continues on a daily basis regardless of whom is in charge or the mood. 80s/90s violence in the city you could have 400-500 in a single year dead. I'd need some better crime-rate statistics to compare when it comes to biker gangs and their chokeholds on certain towns.

I actually think Waco and Baltimore are pretty much the same. The only difference is mobility. In the Waco incident you had gangs in the same place at the same time and they fought. However, these gangs are spread out over large territory and are unlikely to share the same place often. In Baltimore, you have gangs that have small but overlapping territory where they are in the same place often. Therefore you will get more attacks.

Chicago, Baltimore, DC, St. Louis, Oakland. All of these places have had issues with gun violence and crime. But there's never a focus until a shooting takes place outside of them. Before Sandy Hook, no one ran a story about the body count that happens daily in Chicago. Afterwards, it's all folks wanted to talk about. More kids have died in Chitown than soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq combined. But no one cares about those lives, since it doesn't affect them.

That's why Baltimore is getting coverage. Because of Waco. Before that, when was the last time they ran something about the body count in Baltimore?

I remember back in 2013 reading and hearing a lot about the violence in Chicago. Then there was somewhat of a downturn in the mudrders in 2014, and I can't recall anything about this year. I have no idea where the murder rate stands in Chicago right now. I also remember hearing a lot about crime in NY many years ago too, but it has gone down and now we only hear about them major incidents. People get shot in Boston too, I'm guessing it only makes the area news. But if a few hundred were shot evey year, it would be on the national news. Chicago has/had a serious problem. Ditto for Detroit.

Sadly, several,deaths every weekend was/is the norm in some places. It doesn't raise an eyebrow unless it's a particularly violent weekend or incident. If there was a biker gunfight in Waco every weekend or two, we would probably hear about it for a while.

My thought. Spend the money on a better police force, public school funding, and after school programs. As of right now, the cops in those areas could care less. I've lived in STL and been in ESTL long enough to see it first hand. They spend more time harassing the folks in the neighborhood than going after the criminal element. Show the people you care about them, maybe, just maybe things could turn around. They say it starts at home, but that will only get you so far. Because it doesn't matter if you get your kid to act right when he gets gunned down on the way to school.
