The consulates can find (or demand) anything that they want.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Just advise her not to post anything that you want to brought up at the interview.

People have lost their jobs over social media. I took my public display of affection off Facebook 2yrs ago and i dont regret it. People reveal too much.

They can demand but not find something that isn't there for the public. the government would have to have serious reason (ie. a SOR) to hack into a persons email or facebook account, or the person would have to give permission. It would have to be terrorist level assumptions for the gov to hack a FB account or subpeona records. Otherwise these are just people with general FBI database searches and googling and generic FB searches like me and you.

you state you are chasing a k-1, yet you say your wife has facebook. K-1 is for unmarried couples

He said he read it on a K-1 forum, not that he was after a K-1, his profile states CR-1.

I don't think so. It's private, and they respect people's privacy. Besides, if you don't have an FB account, then they won't care. This issue will only pop up is if you mention it or use it as one of your pieces of evidence. If you do, then obviously they might ask for further details.

Just like an interviewer for a job would look at your social media (Including facebook) they would too. That's why it's a good idea to think about what you post there. Like people have said, they probably don't do it to everyone but it's still a good thing to keep in mind.

You will be fine; you are married, so using his last name in places like Facebook is totally fine.

Make your facebook private. they can only see the things that you make public.

They have been known to ask you to log into your FB/ other social media at interview and/or ask for your password.

The embassy only have access to the part of your wife's FB page that's open to the public. If she has everything open, they can see everything if they choose to look. If she has everything private, they can't see anything.

Since you're already married, I would think you have nothing to worry about in regards to your wife already using your last name on FB.

Based on our experience, we submitted chatlogs (voluminous) from FB. The IO just took a short look at it but never asked for our passwords (which my lawyer said would be a grave violation if they did) nor took a look at our FB. Well, maybe others have a different case.
