Wait and processing times K1

9 posts in this topic

Hi all, I am really hoping that someone will be able to offer me some advice so I don't have to go back to slamming my head against the wall. My fiancée and I applied for our K1 back in November and received our 1st NOA giving us a received date of November 10th 2014 and a notice date of November 13th 2014.

Since receiving that letter we have not heard even the faintest whisper from either the processing centre or anyone for that matter, and it's got to the point where I feel like pulling my hair out when I see all these other stories of people being processed in a couple of months. Now I know I'm probably overreacting, and that this is probably completely normal, but the customer support email that I have been contacting has been about as much use as a chocolate teapot, and I was just hoping that somebody may be able to offer a little advice on the matter.

I really would appreciate any information, whether it's a delay caused by a sudden rush, or just they don't like gingers so it takes longer for me, but really anything anyone can offer will be welcome.

I hope someone can help with my problem.

Ollie

It just takes a long time. You can study the statistics about how long it tends to take here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?history=180 Texas is one of the slower ones right now, and is working through a large backlog.

If you complete your timeline, VJ's system will try and give you a prediction of when you should hear something: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=209424

Hello,

Infortunately, you were sent to TSC. My NOA1 was July 29 and I received my NOA2 on February 5. According to the timeline, they are working on October. I would say you're almost there. NVC and consulate are quick.

If your Fiancé calls uscis, you might get lucky and have a person who is willing to help, otherwise they will just give you the usual speech.

Hold on tight, and there is probably a discussion with other people who had their NOA1 in november. They are really helpful. :)

Nothing to do with being ginger :P

The problem is like many of us you are trapped at TSC. Officially they are processing September 2014. Yep. I know. It's painful. Unfortunately, that means you've got some months to go most likely. Now, we know from looking at cases here, they are actually working on September and October, with a few bits of November. You could get lucky of course. Calling the USCIS will get you nowhere. And no, they will not help you, their official processing date absolves them. Tactics you could try is eventually contacting your senator or congressperson, but be advised they may not be able to help much either. Some do, some won't, and some can't. The average waiting is 200+. I know some September filers have been waiting 240+ now. It's disgusting.

Your problem is you live in Alabama and it's a "Red State" and they are punishing you...

Not really, but as your neighbor to the north in Tennessee we are both GU "Geographically Undesirable". It's the luck of the draw in getting the Texas Black Hole instead of the California Warp Speed Processing. All applications are being funneled there but as they say "Good Things happen to those who wait". My data says Nov-Feb applications are lower so they will seem to speed up with fewer total applications. You are so close it will happen for your in the next 45 days. Good Luck

K-1 Journey

2/27/2015: Sent I-129F to Black Hole in Texas:
3/13/2015 NOA1 Received by snail mail:
8/18 2015 ; NOA2 APPROVED. Perfect timing since Linh's current B1/B2 visa stay expires in 3 days and heads back to Vietnam
8/24/2015: NOA2 Shipped to Department of State (DOS) - National Visa Center (NVC)
9/1/2015: NVC Received NOA2 Package and have assigned a Case Number!
9/22/2015: Received PKT3... Finally..... Can now make appointment for Medical Examination
9/28/2015: Medical Exam - Took 3 days... Cho Ray is a mess. Vaccinations delayed until passing Interview because of shortage of vaccinations in Vietnam
10/7/2015: Interview at Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and APPROVED!!!!
10/22/2015 K1 Visa in hand. Son's K2 visa only valid for 6 months (W-T-F-?) Thought good for 1 year. Inquire at consulate and told visa good only as long as the medical which is 6 months K2 VISAS NOT GOOD FOR 1 YEAR AS ADVERTISED ON DOS WEBSITE!
10/29/2015 POE Chicago; Easiest pass through for Linh in her 4 previous entries.
11/2/2015: Not tuned in enough to Social Security not to pick "the first day of the month" to try to get signed up. Read VJ advice, it's spot on, we had a processor who knew K1. We were in the SAVE database in 3 days so it was easy after a 2 hour wait.
11/21/2015: MARRIED IN GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

7/15/2016 Card for EAD mailed. Card is for both EAD and AP. Received 7/19/2016. Waiting now for AOS Interview or Green Card Approval

7/19/2016 The USCIS.GOV is now working for our AOS application. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Seems others have access to USCIS.GOV Check Case now. Glitch fixed?

8/20/2016 GREEN CARD DELIVERED -118 Days K-2 Process complete, see y'all on Lifting Conditions board in a year or so

Hang in there with the rest of us and don't give up hope. We filed in January and now are in our fourth month waiting. We knew going in would take at least six months. It does

bother me that those that just filed and got routed to CSC are already approved but I have to get over it like we all do. It will happen soon. My fiancé is now here with me for a month so that is helping us cope with the long wait time. We really can't do anything about it right now except wait and hope and pray. God bless every one of you that are patiently waiting.

It is an awful experience and I know how you feel! And the 6 month mark was the hardest, that's when I pretty much broke down and I had to leave the VJ forum just to stay sane. Looking at other people both in front of me and after me get approved was too painful.

Hang in there and hopefully you'll get some good news soon. Go visit if you can! Good luck on your journey!
