Time is not the issue.

true but I do not think being on a ship will help his condition. It is still traveling. Sure he could lay down probably in his cabin but it is not like being in bed at home or in a hotel bed.

It always makes me curious when people post numbers like this. Can you clarify please? Are you saying that 99.9% our tourist visas are denied in the Philippines?

Actually the percentage for 2014 was 24.6%. http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Non-Immigrant-Statistics/RefusalRates/FY14.pdf

Are you also saying that 99.9% of waivers for the meeting requirement are denied? Where does this statistic come from?

OP, there is a provision for waiver based on hardship or long established custom. You would likely need to seek the advice of an experienced immigration attorney to answer your question. Good luck.

That is a adjusted rate DOS actually calls it the Visa Waiver Program Adjusted Visa Refusal Rate, which equals to [Refusals minus Overcomes] divided by [issuances plus Refusals minus Overcomes]. A 'refusal overcome' means a visa application is initially denied or rejected, but is later overcome when the applicant presents additional information, and a visa is subsequently issued.

Most single females applying for a tourist visa from the Philippines will be denied . some might eventually get approve if they keep trying and submitting more evidence if they have more evidence to submit

Why would anybody want to marry somebody they've met solely on Internet , never in person and want her to quit her job and then send her money? Women are not objects ! And no, you do not get chicken pox from working, not even from working hard !

I never say anything about her decision. Do I think it is a bad ideal yes

I was replying to another poster that seems to think that getting a visa for a single female in the Philippines is easy according to stats he provided

Actually chicken pox is common in the Philippines and yes you can get it at work being in contact with someone that has it . It is highly contagious

". A person with chickenpox is contagious 1-2 days before the rash appears and until all blisters have formed scabs. It takes from 10-21 days after contact with an infected person for someone to develop chickenpox"

Oh I am sorry I quoted the wrong person.

But regardless , if chicken pox is such a epedemic in the phillipines , Like you said one could catch it from contact with coworkers , I reckon in that case you could catch it from anywhere , public transport or even going out shopping. I just found the correlation bizarre.

I did not say it was an epidemic there. I say it was more common there meaning it is more easier to get it there then in the USA or some other countries

OP said she left work to concentrate on the paperwork.

Each ones situation is different but I highly doubt one needs to quit her job to prepare paperwork.

I understand the document that I posted. His comment was that 99.9% of tourist visas in the Philippines are rejected which is just plain not correct. There is a high probability of rejection but it is absolutely not 99.9%.

My point is this, if someone comes here seeking advise on a tourist visa telling them that it's impossible is just plain unhelpful. What would be helpful is telling them that they need to overcome the presumption of immigration intent and what the embassy wants to see to prove no such intent exists.

I think the issue here is that we do not see a normal cross section of visa applicants. They are mainly in the iffy category.

ok you can tell that to every single female that applies from there that gets turn down that it is ok there is hope.

It is much better to give them the real facts instead of what some stats can be twisted to say.

honest answer she applied for tourist visa she gets turn down how much do you want to bet?

can she applied sure she can applied, but it is better to know ahead of time what the facts are

99% refusal rate is silly, not even Syria or Afghanistan has that.

99% of people in the OP's situation maybe.

the truth is as other have mention it almost impossible for her to get visa. it is not happening

also she is not going to get a waiver

She could do what you suggest and spend money on a lawyer and if by some small chance she gets approve then what go to another country to be with someone she never met. that is the worse advice I ever heard

The facts are the facts, I provided a link to evidence that a 99.9% rejection rate is an outright lie. We can argue it all you want but until you provide facts you are just blowing smoke.

Paying for a consultation with an immigration lawyer is the worst advice you ever heard? Really? The worst advice I ever heard is relationship advice when someone asks an immigration question. But hey it's all about perspective.
