I was told that you can find knock off Rolex watches in Manila area where they are made so well that even a expert has a hard time telling the difference. I also heard they run about 5000 peso.

I have seen the cheap ones on the streets near Ermita for sale, But I would like to get a nice replica for myself, I am not a big watch wearer I just think it would be cool to get.

Any clue where find these rolex type watches? Mall?

If they existed everyone would have them. I can tell a fake rolex from across the room. I suggest you try on some real ones if you haven't already, there are huge differences in weight and obviously the second hand moves much differently on a rolex. I looked for them 10 years ago in different countries, finally just bought a real one. A real one is going to increase in value, as long as things continue like that did for the last 10 years.

It's not for investment. I just like bringing back cool things like that on my trips to Philippine. Couple years ago I was getting I-fones in Manila for $50. I got a coke can that was music player that worked of memory card and only cost me 300 peso and it has been working for 3 years now.

Davao in ChinaTown section I could find like Prada Purse for 500 peso. I just bring them back as keepsakes.

Doubt haggling would work. You know how it is in the Philippines. Foreigners get the "special" price.

Yeah, when I am shopping with my fiancée we always walk about 20 feet apart and she always carried the $ so that we don't get hit with foreigner prices. Plus, for being 5 foot nothing and 90 pounds she is tough as nails when it comes to haggling. I love it.

To this day my father still haggles on prices at most major US retailers, and more often then not he is able to get a lower price. It's just a cultural thing on how they are brought up, but most of us are just shy/embarrassed to ask. The worst thing they can do is say no.

I recently haggled at Les Schwab for new tires and break service, and to my surprise the person was willing to negotiate on the price.

Doubtful if you would find knockoffs in a mall.

Probably find some from the street vendors near Kokomo's in AC if you want to travel that far but better to have your SO interact with vendors in Manila. They will be able to give you better information but I wouldn't trust their directions if you know what I mean.

I got my fake rolex submariner in Robinson's mall for 3750 pesos back in january of 2013. You can also buy them on the street. Walk around malate and there are plenty of guys selling fake watches.

If you are getting ripped of due to foreigner price you need to spend more time there. This is one of my pet peeves in Philippines, local trying to rip off foreigners, Do they really think we are that stupid.

Someone trying to rip me off in the Philippines is going to a good ### chewing. If you actually start staying there or spending long term trips there, you better learn how to shop there.....
