The embassy can demand for any document as they see fit. NVC's job is to collect the docs, that's all.

Dear Fellow, i have no idea when did my mother applied for me, all i know that in January 2014 my sister called me and said NVC has started your procedure and i am submitting your visa fee and effidavit of support fee etc, then NVC started coordinating with me on my email, and started sending me stupid checklists again and again, and yea i also filled and online application form named as DS-260, my case was absolutely normal, and even my sponsor's income is 2500$ above the required poverty guideline, during interview i tried to convince and tried to prove my point to the CO that according to form i-864p my affidavit of support is absolutely right, but He was consistent on his stance, so i thought if i argue more he may get annoy, so i took the 221g :(

i have heard the stories that if you argue with them too much they might give you green 221G which means one more year to wait, or DNA test etc, so its better to wait for couple of months rather than waiting for more than a year

Ah. Keep us posted. You've waited this long, it could just be a formality and you'll be approved soon enough. Fingers crossed!

This is the reason for your delay.
