As a white person I don't find it difficult to understand why minority communities have social problems in the context of recent and not so recent history. That's something that can be accepted without trying to trivialise it.

According to statistics released by the NYPD, the majority of crimes committed in the New York City area are in minority neighborhoods, and they are high!

Statistics for shootings, murders, and felonies are over 80% in each category. These crimes are typically committed by minorities towards other minorities.

These statistics fuel Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly’s controversial Stop and Frisk Policy which has enraged civil liberties advocates and minority group leaders.

Statistics show that 96% of shooting victims, 89% of murder victims and 81% of felony victims are part of a minority group (either black of hispanic). 97% of all those pulling the trigger, 86% of murder suspects, and 88% of felony suspects are also part of that minority group.

Andrew Karmen, a criminal justice professor at John Jay College, said the NYPD's race-based crime data, seen in isolation, could paint a misleading picture. Now, if you use these stats to justify your contempt and fear of black men, what's up with the Anti-Muslim sentiments? I mean, according to YOUR numbers, terror attacks carried out in Islam's are so few and in between, going back 14 years you barely made it past 100. Even with 9/11 added in, you're sitting at about 4200 for a 15 year span of time. As I pointed out, there have been 4210 murders in the past 6 months of this year ALONE. I'm pretty sure we've surpassed that in the last 48 hours. Unless, you want to go world wide again, which I find funny since if anyone uses another country to compare the US in a negative light, they're told to go live there.
