Rice is about twice as expensive

Gas is about twice cost.

CellFone rates are outrageous

Electonics / Gadgets tend to be way overpriced especially laptops, which seem to be almost twice as expensive.

You're talking Metro Manila, I take it. It's also misleading, since fish, chicken, etc. are a lot cheaper from the wet market. To characterize fish as more expensive than the U.S. is laughable. I buy whole tuna direct from fishermen for perhaps 1/10 the price of the U.S. You're shopping in the wrong place.

Never really priced fish, don't buy much here in USA either to compare. Just figured it was overpriced, I have priced meat prices and they are very expensive.

Places I hang out mostly is Davao mostly, Little bit in Legazpi and a little bit in Manila

Marlboro WHites (Non Menthol) are like 40 peso a pack, in Dallas they run about 280 peso. I do smoke when in Philippines.

Going out to bar is super cheap in PHilippines, and most of the pulutan (bar Food) is dirt cheap.

Full body massages are outstanding in Philippines and so so cheap. I will get two per day when time allows.

Davao runs about 250 php, Manila about 400 php, and Cebu Proper is cheapest at around 200 php

Last time I got a massage in USA and it was few years ago it ran about 2500 to 3000 peso and wasn't that good and not worth the money

Being in Davao you should know that durian is MUCH less expensive in PI!

As well as papaya, mango (green and yellow), pineapple, and of course balut.

So not everything is more expensive.

No kidding. In Sasmuan I never paid more than 60 peso/kg for tilapia, so about 62 cents a pound max. (The fish farms are there). Same with monster tiger prawns - way cheaper.

In Iligan City we pay between $1 and $2 per pound at the fish market depending on what we are buying. Rice is 1900 for 50 Kg. so about 40 cents a pound. It is over a dollar a pound here for anything worth eating.

Computer technology is expensive in the Philippines because they have import duties. Bribing cops out of tickets is just a few dollars.
