The cat does not need anything but the 'appearance of good health' to be admitted, but most airlines can and will ask for a vet certificate and evidence of rabies vaccination and you'll need a rabies vaccination for sure in pretty much every state.

I am bringing my dog, a border collie, with me hopefully in November. What paperwork will I need? Is there a quick guide somewhere I coukd read. It will be a Dublin, Ireland to Chicago with Aer Lingus.

The dog weighs approx 25kg and with crate that will rise to approx 33kg. Her vaccinations are all up to date and will be renewed by time of travel. It's just the paperwork I am trying to figure out.

Dog will DEFINITELY need a rabies shot. I don't know if Irish dogs get them, since I know that rabies is not endemic to britain and I get a bit confused about which parts of Ireland are british and which aren't. The rabies shot isn't federally mandated, but state mandated.

Thanks, I know about the rabies shot. Strange that it isn't federal but every state insists on it. Would it be better to get before travel from Ireland, or on day of arrival in GA after drive from Chicago?

I am from the very Irish part of Ireland ?

I'd get it before travel in case of any kind of incident in GA. After all, the rabies shot isn't just to protect you from any kind of importation tax, it's to protect your dog in case of rabid bats or other rabid animals. Better to have your dog safe. Odds are in favour of your dog never being exposed to rabies, but rabies IS endemic to North America. God knows I, living in rural Canada as a teen, saw enough rabid raccoons and stuff that I wouldn't risk it.
