No. The person doing those deeds probably found something to justify their deeds in the Old Testament. I'm sure the quoran has as many directions to commit murder or other atrocities as the bible. I'm of the opinion that the books should all be done away with because they're made up. But i don't see a problem with people that follow the religion texts and kinda skip over the parts that demand you kill adulterous wives and what not.

Why can't we just stand up to and deal with criminals? Why does it matter whether radicalized religious doctrine or something else drives them to commit crime? At the end of the day, they are criminals and ought to be dealt with as such. I don't get that whole focus on the alleged faith of these perps - whatever that faith happens to be.

Different crimes get differnt punishments largely based on the motive. Because some motives are more heinous than others. It doesn't matter what their faith is unless it is the reason for the crime. Then it has to be in the discussion.

Because there are those who only want to associate certain acts with race, sex and religion instead of understanding crazies come in all types of religions, sexes and colors.

I agree, we should just stand up and deal with criminals and those who want to impose on others rights. Why should we stand by and let others mock someone's religion? Sure we have free speech, but up until when does it change from free speech to infringing on someone's personal right?

That's only true for what is commonly referred to as hate crimes. Otherwise, it is WHAT the crime was not WHY it was committed that drives the severity of the punishment.
