TSC = Texas Service Center.....

Your a little confused, as you stated:

#1 Step: File the i-130 at the USCIS lockbox ( these are the people to start with, then they forward it to a "Service Center" for processing.

#2: The service center, Texas/Nebraska, etc......This location will be assigned by the people in step#1. If you file with E-Notification; then you will receive an email what service center it was sent to. Otherwise you will receive notification by mail.

1/6/2015 - NOA #1 Receipt

7/30/15 - Case number assigned

8/3/15 - DS-261 Agent available

8/4/15 - DS-261 Agent completed

8/4/15 - AOS fee available & paid

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

@coolman. I dont know how they determine which service center it is sent to.

What i do know, is that as far as you and I are concerned. It seems random enough and I dont think you have any control over that.

I hope not! i heard they are the slowest!

Any service center can slow down or speed up at any given moment, I have no idea what processing times are now you can go to their site and look. When we petitioned, CSC was at least 7-8 months slower than VSC and everyone was dreading CSC. We were approved in 3 months at VSC. No matter what, there is always one center faster than the other and it constantly changes. And by far TSC the slowest at this point and time.

let me help clear up a couple things for you coolman.....

THE K1 Visa process ----IS----- the i-130 petition application.

To say this another way: The i-130 is your petition for K-1 ( they are the same thing ). And contrary to what NLR states, it does in fact go to (some) Service Center. Which Service Center selected is largely unkown and while petitions ( the i-130 ) may seem like they go to a close service center. I have seen USCIS send petitions to other places on these forums, and not necessarily the closest state to you. I would imagine the USCIS folks spread the petitions around to balance the workload. Admitedly, I dont know this as 100% true.

Here is how this whole thing works:

1. You file a petition, and it gets sent to a LOCKBOX. There are two lockboxes: Chicago and Phoenix. You would need to look up where to file the petition because each state has a designated lockbox.

----Once received they pass it along to an appropriate service center

2. State Service Center. Your petition will stay here for approximately 5 months to check your packet and make sure you have everything. Once approved it now gets sent to the National Visa Center ( NVC ).

3. NVC - The NVC will prep the embassy packet and send it to the embassy of choice. This NVC step lasts approximately 60 days. It is recommended to call to find out your case number as many people did not receive the letter confirmation.

4. EMBASSY / INTERVEW - Now you need to collect more information, do medical /vaccinations, pay fees, setup appointment

NLR is correct... a k1 is not an i-130.

the K1 - is a process

the I-130 - is a form.

I am just trying to help coolman understand, that FOR HIS PURPOSES... it is the same thing. The k1 route is achieved with the i-130 petition. It's not something seperate that happens seperately.
