Timeline

Once you get the number you will get an email shortly after which is a "Welcome Letter". Shortly after that the DS-261 form will become available and the AOS fee will also be available to pay. My AOS fee took a day after the DS-261 before I could pay online.

We were all ready with our supporting documents. So once you have your invoice paid bar code send of the AOS & the IV package. Please read Saylin's guide. It will give you detailed step by step instructions as to how to put these together. Very important to follow the directions given so you can avoid a checklist. We can now send in both packages together and not at different times like in the past. Send this package by a trackable means (UPS, FED Ex etc) once the NVC receives it they will send you an email stating they got the documents. This is your SCAN Date. The process is taking around 30 days to review and case complete provided you don't have a checklist request. So you must stay on top of this or you could end up with a checklist because they reviewed your documents quickly. Mine was only 22 days from my scan date. So be prepared. Read Saylin's guide. Check and double check your supporting documents.

Hope this helps.

thank you so much , I have one

More question , for IV packages do I need to send only documents related to my wife ? I mean birth certificate marriage certificate , passport photos ?! Only for her ? Do we need to send any thing from my side ( I am petitioner ) thanks

The IV package is all about the beneficiary. So yes it's all about your wife. We did however include my (I'm the petitioner) divorce decree too. But it's all about her so just her documents are needed. If you follow Saylin's guidehttp://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process you will be just fine. Make sure to pay attention to all the details like writing your case # on the top right corner of all documents you send in case they get misplaced. I will add that you should check on the travel.gov site to see if there are any special instructions for her country. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html

You will NOT send in originals only copies. Then make sure you mail your wife the originals of any document she does not have yet so she can bring them to the interview. She will also need copies of each of the originals.

Best of luck

I want to just let you know that I just realized your visa you're filing for is the K-3. The help I gave you was for the CR-1 Visa. It's best to check that it's not different for K3.

In that case the advice I shared with you is correct. You should fix your timeline to show cr-1 so that it tracks the data correctly for you and others

I have a CC this afternoon. I called them earlier this afternoon to do my normal "Checking In" and bugging them on a routine basis. LoL

I make an excuse for always calling before my timeframe. Today I said when asked how can they help me that I was just nearing my date for case complete and was looking for an update and to make sure all my documents were in order, etc. The rep said "Well, lets have a look here." He was making stalling noises with ums and hmms and then said everything looked fine and they will contact me within 30 days but it could be very soon. I laughed and thanked him. Took a little nap. Woke up to find 3 N/A's!

So I encourage you all to call them like crazy if it isn't costing you an arm and leg in long distance. Lucky for me my cell plan is unlimited calls. I have bugged them non stop since my case arrived and I truly believe the people that call get their cases moved through faster. So call, call, call and if you need to call some more. Best advice I can give.

Good luck to the rest of you waiting. Thank you to all the people who help us with advice and tireless work on the spreadsheets! :dancing:

Hi Elle&Kev I have a question for you where do you go and see that you have three NA’s, I went to CEAC it doesn’t tell me, Im little confuse can you please tell me. Thank youJ

I had my Interview on April 29th, I was given my welcome to the usa letter they took my passport, and every day since i check the ceac site and there is no update since April 29th , it still says ready. is there a number i can call to check my status, or do you have any idea how much longer. I read on this site some that have gone thru the montreal embassy, have received issued status as early as 24 hours after the interview, and some have even had their passport sent by courier, 3 days after.

I just want to be with my future wife.

please any suggestion or guesses as to how much longer i need to wait would be helpful in at least keeping me from pulling out my hair any more waiting :)

Thanks

I'd suggest going to the appropriate thread with this question, as this isn't the right place for this. This thread is for IR-1/CR-1 filers going through the NVC process. It'd be better if you looked in the Canada regional thread and see what you can find there. If you can't find a similar thread to your question, then create a topic in that Canada forum, as this is country-specific.

Thank you :)

I submutted the DS-260 May 27. It was fast, it took them 9 working days after the scan date to finish our case. I did request for our case to be expedited but request was denied.
