He got there at 7:30 and was out by 10:30. On the first window all his papers were checked and basic information asked (his name, my name, e-mail address, first time married?), and then after that I had to wait forever like 2 hrs and 45 min. After waiting I was called to the actual interview which lasted about 5 min and was told that I was approved, that my visa would be available in 2 weeks, and that I had to pay a fee online which is $165.

We received approval today, conditional on the consulate receiving the medical reports. My wife confirmed with the doctor that they would be sent immediately and the consulate indicated that there would likely be no delay beyond the normal 14 day waiting period for the visa to be sent in the mail. We're totally spent. I wouldn't wish this experience on enemies, and I have huge empathy for all of those still waiting.

I'll be posting a review of her experience and the questions asked. One interesting note, the interviewer was "gringo" and actually switched to English at one point during the interview.

Sad day .....everything went ok but before we can get approved I need to send a sponsors information he got there at 830 was out by 12 30 I have to upload co sponsor information to site they kept all his documents so that he dosnet have to return which I never heard of but hopeful will be over with this soon I wish I would have know we needed a sponsor for our family size I thought we where good since NVC didn't ask for one orginally (feeling distraught

Sorry to hear that, but yes look at the bright side. But, how come you went through NVC without an issue and now they ask you for a sponsor?

Of corse they didn't it was really stressful and disappointing to know that what I thought was ok was not ....only thing I canthink of is because we been waiting so long the last year tax return dosnet count and this year I made less this year .... Im thankful that we have family that can help we be sending all joint information by Monday so hope it won't be to much of a dealay since everything else is all ready to go this process is so awfull thou keeping loved ones away is the worse (praying to be done with all This so soon)

Report on Interview

The interview was scheduled for 8:30 am, June 3, but they began pre-processing immediately when she arrived at 7:45. She only had to wait about 30 minutes before she was brought before the interviewer. His questions:

When did you meet your husband?

When did your husband last come for a visit?

What language does your husband speak?

Do you speak english?

It was here that he switched to english and asked her several more questions:

Where did you learn to speak english?

Have you visited the US before? On what type of visa? How long were you in the US?

Last time you spoke with your husband?

After the questions he stated that she was approved for the visa, pending receipt of documents from doctors (see earlier post). He told her the instructions for applying for a green card. Told her once the medical documents were received, the visa would be processed and sent via DHL. Over all, everyone at the consulate were very friendly.

NOTE: it turns out that they have moved the visa application to the status of Administrative Processing while they wait for the medical documents. We did get confirmation that the doctor sent the papers on Friday, June 5th, so once again, we're in wait mode.

I mentioned this in an earlier post, but it bears repeating, if you're scheduling a medical appointment in Bogota, avoid...

Here is the pain and money she cost us:

1. She unnecessarily referred my wife to a specialist when my wife's personal doctor's records were already clear.

2. The doctor received the specialist's report the day before the interview but did not forward them on immediately

3. After the interview, she called my wife to come visit again. My wife gave her some more details and asked if the doctor needed anything else, to which the doctor replied, "no".

4. My wife flew back to her home town of Cali, but upon landing received a voice mail from the doctor saying that she needed to return to sign a document.

5. We had to buy another RT ticket to Bogota so my wife could sign the document, the next day.

6. The doctor still did not send the medical documents to the consulate on Thursday.

7. Finally, 2 days after the interview, the doctor sent the documents to the consulate.

Again, my recommendation would be to avoid at all costs.
