Hi everyone,

I am new here and looking for some guidance as I get started. I am from the US and my fiancée is from Thailand. We both are currently working and living in Australia. We will be here until September 10th 2015 and wanted to know what embassy or consulate she should apply for on the form I-129f Part 2 36.a and 36.b. This is where the interview will be held im assuming? Would we be better off putting Bangkok, Thailand US embassy for the interview as that is where we will go after September 10th. How long is the timeline for interview processing?

Thank you in advanced

Luke

I suggest using BKK because of timing. Its possible the case would move faster than usual but to plan for that would be a mistake.

If you do use BKK make sure she gets her Australian police report prior to leaving there, then begin the process of getting the Thai police report soon after entering Thailand.

Interview processing? In BKK they see about 700 cases per month. I V cases are interviewed on two days per week only. It can take weeks to months once the case arrives in BKK to be interviewed. Time of year affects this timing as well. A Sept case wouldn't be part of the summer or winter peaks.

Go for BKK. If you file in May you are unlikely to have an interview scheduled before Sept 10th.

Thanks for the help, we are going for BKK. Will be easier and seems logical.

I have another question, for her mailing address(I-129F Part 2 #3) should we use her families address in Thailand as she is not currently there? Our other option is a mailing address here in AUS which isn't as permanent but will be our address for the next 5 months or so.

I'm leaning towards the Thai address as that's where we will be for medical and interview.

Since we are only in AUS for 1 YEAR, how important is it for a police clearance for her in AUS? She can get one in Thailand as well.

thanks for all the questions, we want to make sure everything is filled out perfectly and goes fast and smooth as possible with no RFE's!

thanks for your help.

Yes she should use the Thai address.

I think if she was there for a year she must provide the police report. Its a lot easier to get one while there from what I have seen on V J.
