Hello ,

I filed a K1 visa aplication for my fiance who lives in Egypt. Everything has been going smoothly for us up until now. My fiance submitted his package via aramex (police background, the affidavit of support etc) mid March. When wechecked our status online it says that our file has been "Ready" for interview since March 30th. My fiance called the Egyptian consulate last week to see what was going on and they told him to expect a call within a few days to recieve his interview date. Still no call so he emailed them. They replied back they are still scheduling interviews for people who sent in their aramex package in mid-January. I don't know what to do. They first said that we are ready for an interview and to expect a call but now they say that they are not finished scheduling interviews for the January applicants. Should I give them a call? When should he expect an interview call?

Thank you in advance!

Might be they have a backlog - I believe the Cairo embassy had to take over some visa processing for some of the more unstable neighboring countries. I'd keep at it and call bi-weekly or so. They should hopefully be getting round to you soon.

Try not to worry, the Cairo embassy is backlogged at the moment. There are some of us that have filed I-130 petitions that have had our cases completed by the NVC from the beginning of February, and are still waiting for interviews as well.

The email response you received seems to be the norm for the K1 visa interviews, as I have heard several others say they were told the same thing.

I have a spreadsheet I put together that tracks all Cairo cases. Based on the trends, it looks as though it typically takes 2-3 months from the date packet 3 is sent to the embassy before they notify you of the K1 interview date, and it also looks as though they are, on average, only giving about 2-3 weeks notice before the interview date, however, in one instance, they only gave 4 days notice.

If you sent your packet to the embassy in March, you will most likely receive notice of your interview date towards the end of June for a July interview. I say this, because I know the embassy just recently became backlogged again thanks to them taking on the cases from Yemen.

It took me 2 months and week to get my appointment

Hi Mon&fefe, Congratulations on finally getting your interview date! I remember reading a post by you a while ago about your wait! I do have a question though, what day did the embassey process your first package (the one with the financial support) and when is your interview? I am trying to get a better idea of when I should be expecting a call.

Best Wishes!

That's really disappointing :( I submitted my package on 15th of April !

I can't expect any appointment soon!

na11, I feel our pain :( My fiance submitted his papers to the embassey end of March...Its been a month and a week... I am saying worst case scenario we hear back mid June, but even then it's way too long!

Thank you everyone for all the replies, I am sorry for not getting back sooner! This whole waiting for an interview is making me really anxious! It has been exactly a month and two weeks. I keep thanking God that things have been running smoothly this fat, but I am getting impatient. I think what's making me angry is that we didnt submit the papers until nearly 3 weeks after the consulate emailed us, I am not sure why it took us so long to submit the papers. I do have a few questions though about the interview, I know my fiance did not revcieve an interview date yet, but when he does (god willing soon!) will I need to send updated paychecks?? Thank you again for everyone's replies and re-assurance. I hope that I by some miracle hear back soon from the consulate regaridng my fiance's interview date!
