In the US abortion is legal, murder is not, and according to the law, abortion and murder are two completely different things... In addition, you don't have to have an abortion if you're against it. It's up to each individual to decide. Everyone wins.

Perhaps let me explain it better. It's not considered a "baby" until the head is out in Canada. A woman could be giving birth with just feet out and opt to abort. Basically no regulation

I agree. I couldn't imagine doing it but it is done. Most Canadians don't even know the abortion guidelines

This doesn't sound like the whole story. How would this not violate a doctor's Hippocratic oath? Also, you make it sound (and I hope this isn't your intent) like all breech births are aborted and the mother not given the option of a C-section.

A technicality - sounds like they drew the line at birth for when life begins and defined birth as when the head pops out not considering the loophole of breach babies.. I would bet that no Canadian has ever taken advantage of this loophole.

It is indeed a loophole as there's really no abortion law. I saw a documentary speaking of cases where this has happened in Canada. The thing is most women do not know the laws on or lack thereof

There may be no bright line law regarding what constitutes an abortion versus infanticide, but how often has a full-term, healthy fetus been killed because it was in the breech position at the time of delivery? Sorry to drill down on this, but just because there is no law does not mean that fetuses without defect are being terminated at full-term.

It's legal is the point and not considered infanticide. It's considered the mother's right.

There is no criminal law prohibiting abortions in any circumstances.

The loophole (grey area is a better word) is where life begins and it instead becomes a legal matter (murder).

I would question that documentary, it sounds like a flamboyant claim being made and then some other stat - such as partial birth abortions where signs of life are detected outside the womb - is given..

I would bet money that is a choice hardly ever exercised by mothers in Canada, whereas in the US, even though it's considered murder, we rarely go much too long without getting wind of some mother who killed her kids for one reason or another...
