Hey everyone, my fiance arrived in september and we have since married. Her daughter is till in the Philippines and i remember reading something about children being able to follow for up to a year. Can anyone direct me on where to go from here. We are ready to bring my wife's daughter. My wife is not a permanent resident yet but we did file back in November for her green card. She has recieved her work permit but the green card is delayed for 6 months according to USCIS. Anyway, what can we do?

Is her daughter under 21 and unmarried? If so, as her mother's husband, you should be petitioning for her. Since you are a USC, the child's visa number will be current. If your wife, as a (future) green card holder petitions for her, there will be a wait.

You can file now. Start with the I-130 and upon approval, consular processing.

I figured we wouldnt have to wait. Thanks, I'll start there and will prob be in touch as issues may arise. btw, yes she is only 3. But what do you mean her daughters visa number will be current? She will get one right away?

~~Moved to K1/K2 from Bringing Family Members of PR - Since follow to join option is available~~

Contact the Consulate and let them know you want to proceed with the follow to join. I'm not sure what all it entails but others will help you. As you still have this option it will be faster.
