When a town of 740 has a police force of 6 officers, it is quite likely that something dodgy is afoot in Parma. The article may imply that racism is behind the 5 officers' resignations, but there are other theories around, when you look at the comments.

The outgoing mayor served in the post for 37 years over 2 spells. It was on his watch that the police department grew to its pre-election size. So, when the election went the way of the black, female, Republican, many are presuming that the race, sex and political affiliation of the incoming mayor have nothing to do with the resignations. Rather, good, old-fashioned corruption is behind it all.

That can be quite likely. And the police officers were used to doing what they wanted to, so now it is quitting time.

Not really. Assuming change was inevitable, they're giving up a lot by not waiting.

As you posted before, speculation is great. I think that's what the original article did too.

To play the odds though, to what extent does resigning absolve them of illegal activity? Do you think some kind of deal was made and the article failed to mention it.

I think that was the point. Whenever we're filling in the blanks, we're putting forth guesses. Best guesses have a basis in reality, wild guesses don't. Just the same, the correct guess remains to be seen.

Maybe but in smaller towns, stuff like this happens.

still bottom line is there is not one shred of evidence of racism. just like in the Michael Brown case this is a media invention
