Meeting online

I've read a few posts where people say this is a reg flag - meeting online. I met my fiance online around 6 years ago, chatted for a few months then met in person in my country. Subsequent to that we have travelled back and forth about 10 times, met each other's families and spent as much of our vacation time together as possible.

Is the initial online meeting going to be a problem at the interview? It was not an international marriage site by the way.

as long as you have the evidence to back up its a genuine relationship afterwards you'll be fine!

My fiance and I met on an MMORPG game 8 years ago. He is from England - we only met twice in the last 8 years and it was all in the last year or so, mainly because of finances and family situations. We had no issues at the interview and didn't receive an RFE for anything during our 9 months of processing time - at TSC or Embassy. Granted everyone's situation is different and the beneficiary's country matters a lot in the process of determination/questions/level of scrutiny/etc. but a lot of people are in the same situation.

You have met your fiance many more times than we did. Meeting online is only a red flag really under IMBRA which you can read up on, but this situation doesn't seem to fall under that act. That's for international marriage broker sites - meeting through a website for the purpose of getting married. They are under a lot more scrutiny than other methods of meeting online.

Meeting online is a red flag in certain countries that are known for high fraud. In Nigeria there are cyber cafes full of young men that spend the whole day working the internet for an American woman to get to the US. It is a very organized thing, including Facebook groups to coach them on how to build the appearance of a valid relationship to prepare for the interview. In low fraud countries it is not an issue.

Like NigeriaorBust say, it all depends on the country. Denmark is definitely not a fraud country and you'll be fine as long as all the paperwork and evidence provided is good Me and my fiance met online and we're now at the end stage of the k-1 process. Good luck on your journey!

I met my guy online, because thankfully my best friend knew him and introduced us. Best thing that ever happened to me. Don't think it should be a problem.

And even with sites such as okcupid and the like gaining in popularity it will become more common place that people meet online than in person. That good for it too cause that how I met my fiance, when he was living in Ireland.
